Summary:
We rented this property for two weeks while visiting our son who is in the military, the house is large and very comfortable, we had Christmas dinner with several young men who didn't have anywhere else to be. Mauro the property owner is very attentive and provided us with firewood, wine, prosecco and anything else we needed. The master bedroom is huge and the bed was very comfortable, the master bathroom shower is amazing! The little patio overlooking the river behind the house was so peaceful, and being able to watch the ducks. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Italy to visit our son. The village of Polcenigo is very quaint and quiet and a few good cafe's within in a short walk from the property.

Summary:
This home is in a beautiful town not far from the Aviano Air Base. I was able to entertain my son and his fellow airmen in in a way that made everyone feel they were at home. Pictures of this home do not do it justice. Full of modern amenities yet lovingly restored and maintained to it's historic glory. The owner and his wife were most hospitable - supplying for us a light meal for our first night and treating us to a traditional Italian meal of risotto on another evening. Mauro is an excellent host and is willing to get as involved with your stay as you need. If you are looking for a true authentic stay in this area of the country, I highly recommend this home. Thank you for sharing your home with the traveling public.

Summary:
My wife and I travelled to Northern Italy at the end of September 2018, to visit the town of Arba, where family members were born. We also wanted to visit Venice, the Dolomites, Trieste and Aviano. The Casa De Borga was the perfect place to centralize ourselves in order to visit all the places we had on our agenda. But the central location was just the beginning.
Mauro and Michela's lovely family home was better than any 5 or 6 star hotel and by far was the nicest place to stay in that area. While there are several hotels, that one could choose from, nothing matches the comfort and beauty of this place. And the price is very comparable. In fact given what you get here.....this place is a steal.
The home boasts a lovely kitchen with all the amenities plus a dining room with a very large and functioning stone fireplace (we were able to have a fire because it got cold one night). The master bedroom was immense with a very nice and large bathroom.
We did not use the third floor bedroom, however it too had its own large bathroom. This level had 3 single beds so if you have kids it works nice, or if your wife tells you to sleep somewhere else....it is the perfect place.
There is a nice covered back porch where we had coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening while watching the stream run by.
The town of Polcenigo is a quaint spot with a couple of nice places to visit and explore. It has a wonderful coffee shop and a handful of very good restaurants within either walking distance or a 5-10 minute ride. Two minutes from the center of town there is an excellent little market run by a very nice woman. You can get most everything you need. If however you find that you can not, there are a number of Lidl Food Stores in some of the other towns close by.
In terms of getting around, since we landed in Venice we had rented a car (do this before you leave your home because there can be long lines at the car rental place.) Italy has a wonderful train system that virtually covers the country...and is very reasonable. Don't think about driving to Venice. Train is the best and actually the only way you get in!!
We would highly recommend this home if you are coming to Italy. And we thank our hosts for a most wonderful time. Grazie

Summary:
What an amazing vacation. Casa Borgo far exceeded our expectations. The photos donβt do it justice. The casa is exquisitely restored and decorated with attention to every detail. The old world charm blends seemlessly with the modern style bathrooms and kitchen. The location was perfect, just step out the kitchen and enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the balcony which is right on the river. The house is a stones throw from the piazza where there is a great little bar for coffee and brioche in the morning. Within walking distance is a wonderful pizzeria called El Moridisco. Plus a gelateria in the piazza. There is also a weekly market selling wonderful fruit, vegetables, cheese and cold cuts. The location is convenient for those wishing to use the base, yet far enough away to where you donβt feel the full impact of the base. Itβs very well located for travellers wishing to sight see. I recommend Gorgazzo and lake Barcis for lunch.
The owner of the property was extremely warm, friendly and helpful. He speaks English very well and welcomed us when we arrived with a gift basket with his wifeβs homemade ragu or meat sauce and a bottle of wine. The casa has been in his family for centuries and you can see the pride he has in making this a memorable stay for his guests. If you are not familiar with the area then Mauro can set up daily schedules of the beautiful sites to see in Friuli and beyond. This rental is excellent value and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Aviano area. We look forward to staying there on our next trip.

Summary:
It is difficult to describe the peaceful experience of staying in this authentically renovated late 1600's mansion. The gentle river that runs through town is out the backdoor where you can sit with your morning tea or afternoon wine under the pergola. The oneway cobblestone road outside the front door is used only by neighboring homes. The tiny town of Polcenigo is rich in opportunities to participate in the daily life of a small northern Italian village - the weekly market is steps away, the wonderful gelateria within a 3 minute walk, a tiny trattoria with good typical food and a patio overlooking the river is steps away, pizzeria and patisserie are within a five-minute stroll. Only local traffic goes through Polcenigo as it is away from main thoroughfares but so close to many exciting areas to visit - wineries, Aviano with the NATO base, mountain lakes and a ski area, lovely villages, Roman ruins, the Adriatic Sea and so much more.
The home itself is a slice of history. Large rooms with beautiful floors and beams, the Murano chandelier that lights up the living room, large stone working fireplaces in the living and dining room, an enticing third floor suite with it's own modern bathroom, art throughout the home which reflects its origins.
The experience one has in this elegant mansion is enhanced by the kind personal attention given by Mauro whose family owns this mansion. The evening of our arrival Mauro greeted us with a home filled with lit candles, a tour around the town to help us quickly locate the supermarket and recommended restaurants (the recommendations were fantastic!) and a basket of foods and wine needed to prepare our own arrival dinner in case we were too tired from our travels to go out to eat or take a trip to the store. We did just that and it was relaxing and delicious. Mauro continued his contact with us throughout our stay sharing ideas of places we might want to see and experience in this area of Italy. We felt genuinely cared for by him. In fact, after meeting our son and his family who had recently moved to Aviano but had yet to find permanent housing, Mauro advised them on possible solutions to their housing concerns and offered his assistance in any future concerns that might arise while they are in Aviano. We felt much more confident leaving Italy knowing that he was there for them in case of an emergency or just to check in with someone who cared.

Summary:
We just had a wonderful two weeks stay at Casa in Borgo, words arenβt enough to describe this beautifully restored old mansion, it didnβt take long for us to feel comfortable, relaxed and at home.
Casa in Borgo is a beautiful place on its own right but what really made it an outstanding and unforgettable stay was the beautiful family that owns this magnificent mansion; Mauro, Michela and their daughter Gaia. Everyday Mauro went out of his way to make us feel at home and to make sure we truly experienced the Italian way of life, starting with the comfort and amenities that Casa in Borgo offers, walking around the amazing medieval village of Polcenigo enjoying an expresso every morning and visiting all the beautiful surrounding villages, lakes, mountains and cities all reachable within easy 0.5 - 2 hour drive such as Vittorio Veneto, Lake Barcis, Treviso, Padua, Aquileia, Grado, Trieste, Venice, Verona, Cortina, etc., most recommendations made by Mauro.
Mauro graciously shared on many occasions the pride he feels for Casa in Borgo as this represents an important part of his family heritage. I have to honestly say that during these two weeks Mauro and I developed a friendship that I hope will endure going forward into the future.
We now consider Mauro, Michela and Gaia our new friends whom we intend to stay in touch with and for sure will meet again in Italy and hopefully also in other parts of the world.
As mentioned repeatedly by the other guests, we also highly recommend Casa in Borgo for anyone who would like to feel at home away from home and is interested in sampling Northern Italyβs way of life.

Wow! What a great place, we were welcomed by Mauro with open arms.
My husband and I got Married on May 27th this year. Because my husband is Italian we had a celebration of the marriage in Polcenigo.
We stayed at Casa in Borgo on September 24 and 25. It was a real home away from home. Beautiful surroundings, the home was clean, cosy and very spacious. We would recommend Casa in Borgo to anybody.

Summary:
We are two retired couples, from opposite sides of the world, who enjoy meeting up each year to explore a corner of Europe. Casa in Borgo in Polcenigo fulfilled our every desire: the perfect home in a beautiful part of the world.
The villa is exceptional: beautifully furnished and very well appointed. Mauro encourages his guests to use all the lovely crockery, glassware, candles etc. Despite extremely warm weather we did not need to use the air conditioner. The rooms remained cool and airy. Three weeks of electricity for 4 β without using a/c or clothes dryer β was a mere 35 euro. A basket of maps and travel guides was extremely helpful, and Mauro himself is full of excellent ideas to help you enjoy the perfect holiday for you. He introduced us to wonderful restaurants and advised us on travel routes, and can arrange golf, fishing, cycling, horse riding etc.
We were able to visit Trieste, Padova, Venice, Lake Garda (two and a half hoursβ drive, to catch up with friends) and less well known gems such as Spilimbergo (mosaic school), Cividale, Belluno, Valvasone, Aquileia. A visit to breathtaking Lake Barcis is a must β emerald water surrounded by glorious mountains.
There are many beautiful walks in the area, as well the stunning mountain scenery of the Dolomites visible on every drive.
Polcenigo is a lovely town, with bars, pizzerias, supermarket and the worldβs best gelataria. Our evening ritual was to treat ourselves to a new flavour.
We had the good fortune to arrive in Polcenigo just prior to the weekend of the 400 year old Basket Festival. Saturday was fairly quiet, but this gave us a chance to chat to the vendors of cheese, meat, condiments about the local products and how they were made. Sunday was amazing, with thousands of people enjoying the market stalls, demonstrations of traditional basketry, all manner of crafts, music, food etc.
Mauro is very knowledgeable about, and proud of, the Friuli β Giulia β Venezia Region and wants his guests to enjoy and appreciate the Italian love of fine food and good company. He and Miki do everything to make your stay perfect. Our holiday was just sublime.
