Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: I like the fact that it was near the airport and you could take the bus. The store accros was a big bonus and. The taxi guy was very nice, and the fact that he spoke English and we could communicate was good.

Negative: Overall, our stay was okay, but there were a few things we wish we had known in advance. Firstly, we didn’t receive the full amount we paid for the rental because there were additional charges that were not communicated beforehand. It would have been much better if these charges were clearly mentioned from the start. Communication with the host was also difficult because she didn’t speak English or Dutch, which made it hard to get clear information or ask questions. The thing that bothered us the most was the electricity situation. We didn’t know that we had to pay for electricity separately by buying prepaid credits. In our country (Suriname), we usually pay for electricity monthly, so we are not used to this system. We weren’t aware that we needed to keep topping up the electricity ourselves, and this was not included in the price we paid. We think this should be clearly highlighted in the listing because it really affected our stay and our budget. In addition, there were many problems with the internet. Sometimes we didn’t have internet at all during the day, which was a big problem since we needed to stay in touch with important matters back home in Suriname. Luckily, there was a store nearby where we could buy electricity credits, but it was still an unexpected and inconvenient experience. In summary, we believe the information about the electricity should be more clearly stated, and the internet connection should be more reliable for future guests.
