Positive: Light breakfast, but plentiful with amazing view .

Negative: For a longer stay, maybe hot water. Not a critisim, but be aware it's a 2km drive up a trail. I had a low car, but no real problem.

Summary: The couple, Eve and Micha were very friendly, spent time in conversation. A great place to get away

Positive: Amazing location. Stunning views from a clearing in the forest 620m high on the slopes of the Grand Colombier. Small refuge with 3 double beds and two single beds in a dormitory on the top floor. Warm refuge, comfortable mattresses. Amazing local food prepared with love by the kind friendly couple that run it. Dinner was fantastic, simple but with great flavour and expertly cooked. Breakfast was great, children loved the pancakes, we loved the homemade preserves and the 'pain perdue'

Negative: It's an off grid Eco Refuge so be prepared for dry toilets (the kind where you have to put sawdust on top after you're done) and sheet sleeping bags in a small mixed dorm. Water is heated by the sun so if it's not sunny you're having a cool shower. It was a 1.6km drive up a narrow steep gravel track. You won't get up there in a low slung sports car. Our Ford MPV managed fine but it was a first gear crawl all the way with care taken on the corners not to beach the underside of the car on the bigger ruts and ridges.

Summary: Perfect rustic break in the forester hills with amazing food and views.
