It is designed to accommodate multiple families with open bathrooms and individual toilets and showers. The home is just 30 minutes east of Duluth on the sandy south shore of Lake Superior.
Lake Superior Barn rests on 320 acres of remote wilderness and a sandy beach. The home sits on the south shore of Lake Superior, staring across the lake to the North Shore cities of Duluth and Two Harbors whose lights twinkle in the distance at night. The property is completely surrounded by the Brule River State Forest so there is not another home on the Lake Superior shoreline for miles… Enjoy the secluded sandy beach or walk it like an ocean looking for beach-glass. Listen to the waves crash or swim in the cleanest of all the Great Lakes where the temperature can reach 60 or 70 degrees in the shallow, sandy bottom water. Warm up to a driftwood fire or roast s'mores on the waterfront.
Once back to the house, wash the sand off your feet in the outside shower while taking in the 180 degree view of Lake Superior. Enjoy the 1600 sq foot reclaimed deck just outside the beautiful kitchen and a pantry with all the extra ingredients and spices you may have forgotten. Build a fire with firewood provided in the stone fireplace or have a fire on the bluff watching the sun set or lay in a bean bag and pick a book to read from the stocked bookshelves in the loft. Summary: The house had plenty of space for our family and we really enjoyed exploring the trails around the property and the access to the beach. The sauna and hot tub were a big hit too. We can’t wait to stay here again!

Summary: I reserved this space for a small group retreat for therapists.Overall, the space itself is GORGEOUS, with amazing views of Lake Superior, a lovely private beach, walking paths and trails, and our favorite - the woodfired sauna! The home itself is very well stocked and so well taken care of, and we enjoyed the decor and the warm environment. We had space to do yoga in the mornings downstairs, and spread out for group activities when needed. The kitchen was really well stocked and well laid out, and the whole vibe overall is lovely! The most challenging thing about our stay with the caretaker Kris, who left a very bad taste in our mouth and impacted our entire experience of this property. The owner casually mentioned we should contact her to arrange an arrival time, however I missed this detail in the rush of the few days before the retreat and he never provider her phone number. I had already requested an early arrival and late departure, and confirmed this with the owner, so they knew our arrival time and we let ourselves in when we arrived. Instead of texting to check in with us (she had our contact info but we didn't have hers), Kris rudely interrupted our first group activity on the first night and brought a cloud of bad energy into what was meant to be a warm, inviting experience. I understood why she was upset, because they have had guests completely wreck their sauna, but her response seemed out of proportion and she was rude and nasty the first and last day too.

Summary: This property is absolutely amazing! We stayed for four nights which was not nearly long enough! After arriving we never left and enjoyed every minute, never getting bored! The location is fantastic! We did not use the sauna, but the hot tub was a big hit! Enjoyed the best fire pit we have ever had every night too! The indoor fireplace is beautiful and our kids enjoyed the game room and cornhole. We have stayed at many properties but this is one of the best! The owners were great as were the caretakers. We sure hope to return soon!

Summary: The Lake Superior Barn was a wondeful location for our group of 3 families to convene for a long weekend. We never would have needed to leave the property with the sauna, hot tub, beach, fire pits and areas to explore but it is also in a great location for day trips to Duluth and Bayfield

Summary: We had an unforgettable stay at the Lake Superior Barn. It is a truly special place to gather with friends, serene and remote with sweeping views of the south shore of Lake Superior. While a few of us took short outings nearby, most of our time was spent enjoying the private beach, wooded trails, and the comfort of the Barn itself.The wood fired hot tub quickly became a favorite ritual, and one evening we fired up the sauna for an added treat. The wraparound deck set the stage for a big jam session, while the yard was perfect for games and bonfires that stretched into the night. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for large groups, and we loved preparing meals to share with our friends and loved ones.Our two dogs had the time of their lives exploring the grounds, and wildlife sightings throughout the stay kept everyone delighted and surprised. We were especially lucky with our timing, witnessing the full Sturgeon Moon and four nights of meteor showers that lit up the sky above Lake Superior. From quiet mornings to lively evenings, the Barn provided everything we hoped for and more.This was one of the best group vacations we have ever taken. Watching everyone’s joy as they settled into the home and the surrounding beauty was unforgettable. We left completely enamored and look forward to returning.

Summary: The location was beautiful offering magnificent views and relaxation. We really enjoyed the hot tub and shoreline. The structure of the Barn itself was spectacular ! We were looking forward to walking on the trails that were around the property especially the ones leading to creeks or shoreline. So it was disappointing that many trails were so overgrown. The magnetic screen door was in very poor shape which contributed to many flies coming inside the Barn. Kris was very helpful and readily answered any needs or questions we had. Overall we had a great time there and would certainly recommend this place to others.

Summary: What a great location! If you like to be off the beaten path and have some peace and quiet with walks down the beaches of Lake Superior with only the waves, this is just for you! Weather cooperated (mostly). Love the wood fired sauna and hot tub and having to do a little work for your reward! Plenty of room and great views of the lake.

Summary: Our family has so much fun at the barn. We loved the seclusion and there was plenty to do right there at the barn. We enjoyed the sauna and hot tub, and especially the private beach! We also enjoyed relaxing on the deck with a spectacular view! The kids played games in the rec room when it got chilly outside. The kitchen was fully stocked and there was plenty room for everyone! The washer and dryer were definitely a plus. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!
