2 Bedroom Cottage in Portwrinkle, Torpoint

Drake is a quaint, two bedroom terraced cottage with lovely garden and patio area looking right out to sea. Families and/or friends can enjoy a barbecue outside, and relax in the hot tub, or enjoy dinner with panoramic sea views from the sunny conservatory. The cottage has two bright upstairs bedrooms, a double master bedroom looking out at sea, and an airy twin room. This cottage lies just moments away from the two pretty beaches, Finnigook beach, which is dog friendly all year round and Harbour beach which has restricted access for dog between April and October. Both beaches are popular with surfers, walkers and spear fishers, or just those looking to relax and soak up the sun! Portwrinkle lies at the end of the Whitsand Bay Peninsula, affectionately known by locals as “the forgotten corner of Cornwall”, being as it is much less developed by tourism and remaining, for the moment at least, a bit of a local secret.
There is parking for 1 car, and this is located outside the garages alongside the cottages.
Guests can book into our Spa (Sauna and Steam Room) facilities. This is free for all our guests and can be booked in 1 hour time slots, making it private for your use during that time. The Spa is a 5 minute walk from Drake and directions are sent via email with the booking confirmation.
Please note - In order to keep the cost of booking down, we no longer require an upfront damage deposit payment of £250 for any of our properties. Instead, the card details used to make the booking are securely stored with our payment provider and in the unlikely event of needing to make a claim for damages or excess cleaning, we will notify you before deducting the amount from your registered card. We're also pleased inform you that we are able to provide flexible payment options that suit you to pay the balance of your booking. Just send us a message after placing your booking and we'll be happy to set this up for you.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay with being within a 5 minute walk of two beaches. The hot tub was very clean and nice to use. The water tank/heater was very noisy all night, being right between the bedrooms. We found the house a bit tired and in need of a bit of updating generally, especially for the price. There were sweets wrappers under the coffee table that our dogs found, so we weren’t sure how thorough the cleaners had been. Very nice enclosed garden with outdoor lights, good for our dogs. Overall, compared to other cottages we have stayed in, we found it not value for money and for the price we paid we wouldn’t stay again.

Summary: A lovely and homely property perfect for a short getaway. The little touches on first impression were a pleasant surprise: the heating was on to a cosy temperature upon our arrival in the afternoon, the hottub was primed and ready to enjoy, the kitchen had EVERYTHING you could need, and there were plenty of linens and enough towels for each guest as we were four adults. We also traveled with our small dog who had all the freedom to roam in the well secured front garden. There was ample green space for him and two security gates before he could have escaped to the road. Some things to keep in mind and can be approved upon: There was not enough loo roll for the duration of our stay. The toilet that is upstairs, has a door that is very difficult to lock due to the wood expanding. Overall, we would love to come back! The SPA access was an added bonus that we used everyday.

Summary: We have a great few days here in Cornwall. A beautiful location overlooking the sea! Very quiet and remote and a lovely little beach right next to the house! Weather wasn’t great but we still had a great time. Would recommend the pub at the top of the hill The Finnygook. A short walk from the cottage. Thanks and we hope to be back again!
