Positive: Beautiful view, absolutely breathtaking. Staff very friendly. Spa was great and breakfast food was also great. Parking is very convenient!

Negative: The location is not great and doesn’t have a lot happening around it. Additionally I believe the building itself is not very well maintained and could use a renovation. Room service food was expensive and not great quality.

Positive: Beautiful, grassy pool setting with infinity pool and lots of sun lounges and umbrellas and a great view of the river. Our room was large, with a lovely bathroom, and two small lounge chairs inside and two metal chairs on the small balcony. The birds whipping around the location at sunset were lovely to watch. It was really peaceful there. The food was ok, not super exciting, and the staff, who were mostly very nice, took a long time to replace/notice empty breakfast offerings. For dinner, we enjoyed our room service meals more than our restaurant experiences. We did a really enjoyable one-day tour of the Douro Valley which went to the “prettier” part of the region, where all the vineyards are (further inland from the hotel). It was organised by the hotel’s guest experiences manager, Cecilia, who was very friendly and helpful. Gonçalo, who worked for the external tour company and drove us to several locations (river cruise stop, lunch, train trip back, vineyard, wind turbine region), was great fun.

Negative: There’s not much around the location and no vessels stop at the jetty in front of the hotel for guests to join a river cruise, which felt a bit crazy! You have to be transported (taxi, tour) to another place to go on the river. To enjoy the region fully, I imagine it would be better to have a car. We came by train from Porto to Mosteirô, then taxi to the hotel, and felt isolated. One day we walked to a nearby village for lunch and had to walk on a narrow road for some of the way: a bit nerve wracking. A small but big thing is the external hotel design doesn’t fit in with the natural environment. It’s an off-white beast, like an industrial factory, built on the river’s edge. I’m glad we stayed in it and didn’t have to look at it!

Positive: The room was spacious and clean, the pool was spectacular, the food at breakfast was excellent, the staff was kind and helpful. Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was absolutely excellent.

Negative: There maintenance of the hotel needs some improvements . However when we had a problem with the sink and the toilet the staff was very quick and efficient and solved the problem,

Negative: I didn't like the amount of lifts you had to use to access the facilities , it was up to the 6th floor, then a walk to a different lift change lift to the 7th floor then to use the sauna you had to come down in a different lift to a different area of the 6th floor.
