Positive: The whole experience of arriving at the beautiful island and the whole stay was magnificent! We had beach to ourselves, at the front door, most of the days, giving quite an exemptional experience. We loved the slow-paced days. Peter is an amazing host, very accommodating, always quick to respond. The transfer from Cairns was very well organized! We decided to use Paradise Limousines services with Warren and were transferred from Mission beach by boat with John. The island care takers, Warwick and Andrea, very welcoming, always helpful. I definitely recommend this experience!

Positive: Doorila Beach House is nothing short of spectacular, and Bedarra Island is simply magical. We haven’t stopped talking about our holiday since returning to reality. If I could give Doorila an 11 out of 10 stars, I would! The view is magical, the space is beautiful and the ocean is at the front door. We filled our days with long and leisurely swims, standup paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling, exploring, fishing and eating! There is plenty of watersport equipment to keep everyone entertained and the kitchen is well-equipped (far better than we were expecting). Huge shout out to the owner, Peter for being so kind and accommodating right from the beginning of our booking. We really appreciated all the work Stuart and Adele (Great Barrier Reef Safaris) put into helping us organise provisions and ensuring our transfer to the island was effortless. And a massive thank you to Warrick and Andrea (caretakers) for receiving us with warmth and being all-round great people - you helped make it a trip we’ll all remember forever!

Positive: Incredible location and facilities (loved the deck chairs, beach and recreation equipment, kayaks and sup, hammocks, fishing gear, various bathing options etc).

Negative: Bad weather on our last day made transferring out trickier but that was a small price to pay to stay in a private slice of paradise!

Summary: Amazing private paradise with everything you could want for a week of relaxing and low key activities

Positive: Absolutely amazing place, the location is superb and the beach house is very stylish and comfortable. We had some amazing weather and loved the clear water, the beautiful bay with its playful rocks and colourful reefs, all the watersport equipment and the really well equipped home for great dining and cocktails on the terrace and the beach. Kids love the swings and building sandcastles. We saw whales, turtles, fish from the lookout spot on the island and from the house. Can't get any better. Easy to organise transportation to the island with friendly people, a few things to organise but no problem with great communication. Thank you!

Positive: An amazing location and great views. The house was beautifully styled. The beach and bay is stunning. The caretakers and cleanliness of the home was very good. The team from Great Barrier Reef Safaris (who transferred us to the island) were very helpful with the information on the island and what we needed to take, pack, order.

Negative: Sadly the home, facilities and comfort do not reach the same standard as the view. During our stay we had very little power as a result of a battery system that had failed which made cooking, lighting and generally our stay challenging. The weather was very wet and windy during the July period of our stay and with the power issues and the need to run a generator a lot of the time. Please note that the home is over 3 levels with external stairs so you will get wet if it is raining and if you have young kids or mobility issues it is not ideal as it can be very slippery. With 2 bedrooms in main house (high on the hill) and then 2 other separate cottages, you need to make sure that the layout works for you. The property has many great attributes but needs attention to bedding, pillows, water equipment (such as Kayaks), BBQ, reliable power and upgrades to match the 5 star location. The home is more ideally suited to 2 or 3 couples and not up to 8 guests as there is only a small lounge in the main home and not enough seats for 8 to dine inside or out. The home was spotlessly clean and the caretakers very helpful.
