Positive: This is our second stay here, each time for 1-2 weeks. I love that it is right in the center of Montignac, and an easy walk from all the restaurants and the grocery, post, bank, etc. Everything you need to cook a meal. Nice view. Comfortable bed. Huge modern bathroom. Responsive host. Secure. I would recommend it.

Negative: The deck furniture is showing it’s age. There is a lamp in the living room that looms over the space and we kept hitting our head on. The mattress pad no longer fits well and slips off. All minor compared to the positives.

Positive: We stayed here for close to two weeks in the end of November and beginning of December and were very pleased. The location is right in the heart of Montignac and everything is just steps or a short walk away. The bed is king sized (unusual for accommodations in France) and comfortable. There is room for luggage and a dresser and wardrobe for unpacking. The bathroom is large and modern. The kitchen is also new and had what we needed to cook for ourselves. Happy to discover on arrival salt/pepper, oil, vinegar, coffee, sugar, dish soap, sponge/kitchen towel, and a bottle of Bergerac wine. The view on one side is the river, and the other the town square. There is a nice private deck looking out over the river which would be fabulous in summer. The hostess was highly responsive, arranged for us to arrive a little early, and brought us croissants one morning. Perfectly clean. Very good value. We would choose this again.

Negative: The freezer needs a defrost. No oven. The entryway and stairs are kinda rough looking. It was cold on our arrival and old stone buildings can take awhile to warm up. None of this detracted from our overall comfort and satisfaction.

Summary: I pretty much never give a ten rating—this is an exception

Positive: A beautiful Gite on the riverside in the town centre. Very helpful hosts who seem to enjoy sharing their lovely Gite. Parking is easy with ample parks directly outside the apartment. Hosts provide excellent instructions on how to access the Gite as well as local amenities. Lounge looks over the square in front of a hotel but is very quiet and peaceful. Bedroom is ample and comfy, along with an excellent ensuite. The Terrace balcony is a lovely place have a glass of wine and watch the river slide by. There are excellent restaurants and cafes in the town, although some require planning and booking. The area has a wide range of villages, gardens, caves to explore so having a vehicle is a distinct advantage. The area is deep in pre-history with many prehistoric cave sites to visit.

Negative: Nothing.

Summary: Perfect midway point between the south and Paris with enough of interest to keep everyone happy.
