Positive: I spent four nights in this lovely guesthouse, which is at walking distance from Erdene Zuu and one of the turtle markers which can be found in Harhorin. Buggy and his family are exceptionally welcoming, and experienced in the nomadic lifestyle. I will always be grateful to them as they made my dream of going horse-riding in the Orkhon Valley come true. And the food here is so delicious!!!

Positive: I really liked this guesthouse. It was about $22 usd a night, pretty reasonable, and the place was super clean, modern, and comfy. The bathroom was actually the best I’ve used in Mongolia, spacious, good water pressure, and they even provided shampoo, lotion, and soap. The owner and his daughter both speak English, so communication was easy. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, he is a kind, gentle dad. His daughters were really sweet too. The meals the daughter cooked were amazing, so tasty and filling! The dining ger was really pretty, and breakfast was included in the room price. Dinner costs extra, but it’s totally worth it (especially since there aren’t many restaurants nearby). Being able to eat here was a big plus. One of the moments that really touched me was when I was about to go for a walk alone up the hill behind the guesthouse, and the oldest daughter suddenly called out and said her younger brothers could go with me. They didn’t speak much English, but they were so friendly and chatty that I didn’t feel alone at all. From the hill, you get a full view of Kharkhorin, the Orkhon River reflecting the sunset, and endless grasslands stretching beyond the town. The whole scene, covered in the evening glow, was just stunning. This place used to be the capital of the Mongol Empire back in Genghis Khan’s time, and as a World Heritage Site, it really feels like a place where time has stood still. The next morning, the two brothers even played chess with me. They were super smart and quick, while I took forever to make my moves and felt kinda bad, I was honestly really happy and thankful they wanted to play with me. I only have one younger brother and we don’t see each other much, so I really admire the close bond this family has. All the kids were adorable, it just felt so warm and homey!🥹 The next day, the owner gave me a ride to town, and when I later realized I forgot my plug, he even brought it over to me. I really appreciated it!

Positive: I only booked for one night at the last minute, but the hosts welcomed me with remarkable kindness and generosity. In rural Mongolia, it’s rare to find English speakers, so I was genuinely relieved to be able to communicate smoothly here — it was the first time in a week that I met Mongolians who could speak English! The guesthouse had just recently opened, and upon my arrival, I was immediately invited to join the family BBQ. They served delicious goat meat — my first time trying it — and it was surprisingly flavorful and chewy in the best way. When I mentioned I wanted to visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, they kindly lent me a bicycle, and even more impressively, the owner’s sons came along to guide me. Later, their young daughter, who used to study at a university in Ulaanbaatar, cooked me a warm, homemade dinner that could easily compete with any restaurant meal in the capital — truly delicious. What touched me deeply was how the children noticed I was alone and kindly invited me to play football with them. It was one of those small but powerful moments that made me feel the warmth and hospitality of Mongolian people. Even more impressive, all the buildings, including the rooms and facilities, were built by the owner himself. Everything was clean and thoughtfully maintained. Honestly, the toilet was so clean it would have stood out even in the center of Ulaanbaatar! On the morning of my departure, they not only took me to see a local sightseeing spot before my bus, but also dropped me off directly at the station and helped me buy a ticket. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience. I’m deeply grateful and sincerely hope to return someday. Highly recommended!
