Positive: Close to Alishan train station, but many stairs. Free pick up from train station and free shuttle to bus staion. Helpful reception. They brought us a heater after we complained about the cold room temperature.

Negative: Although the room looks large, there is no place to put a medium size bag, so we had to put them on the floor. Dusty dirty room corners. No refrigirator. No cold and hot drinking water in the room, only in the corridor with Chinese instructions, as miost written information is only in Chinese. Not very fluent English. The reception is just a counter in the corridor. Heating in the room only if outside temperature is below 7° C. When we were there it was 10°, so... Two very uncomfortable chairs, impossible to use without putting one of our pillows first. No curtain in the shower, so the whole floor gets wet. No socket in the bathroom. Very thin towels. 50% prepayment immediately after booking.

Positive: Convenient location. It is clustered near the Alishan main visitors’ area and 10 mins walk to the Alishan train station and 5 mins to carpark. Provides hot water, breakfast is outsourced to nearby eatery at the visitors’ center.

Negative: No heating in the room ans electric blanket is provided. It rained heavily in the middle of the night and the entire window was dripping with water condensation. Everything in the room felt cold and moist. I can imagine that mold can easily be present in such conditions.

Positive: Room was comfortable but on the small side. Bed was comfortable

Negative: Despite being expensive, this hotel just felt cheap. No pickup from alishan station/bus depot (it's a huge hill to drag luggage down so we ended up paying a private driver to take us and our luggage to me the bus station) Hand soap dispenser wasn't filed They used the super cheap bulk toilet paper like you would expect in a public toilet Room heating was only turned on when the temperature went below seven degrees and was already switched off in the morning so it was freezing when we had our showers and got ready for the day

Positive: Basic infrastructure is good - room is clean, hotel location well placed. Proximity to Alishan sunrise train station, breakfast places.

Negative: Customer service is sorely lacking - The attitude of the hotel staff is really sub-par for taiwan. When checking in i noted only 1 hotel card per room of 2 people. I asked for extra key card, noting my kids’ room and mine were separated by a corridor (despite asking for adjoining room). Not only was I warned by the hotel staff that there is a replacement fee (something like 500 TWD per card which I recall was ridiculous), but the staff went on to say if all 4 key cards were lost it would be 2000 TWD. This is childish to the extreme, and I can only surmise either the staff could not be fired or the hotel is complacent given its full occupancy. Either way, unless I have no choice, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Summary: Good location, decent facilities, poor hotel front desk customer service
