Positive: Lotus Desaru resort is very child and family friendly. Lots of fun activities to do there, and they have their own private beach, which is beautiful. Food is pretty decent as well. Nearby attractions in Desaru are also easily accessible from here.
Negative: The upkeep of the apartment fell well short of the "luxury" descriptor. I would rather describe it as basic/functional. Also, maybe it's just me, but it wasn't clear to me from the description that the apartments are not serviced by the resort - so you're responsible for your own cleaning etc. during your stay.
