Enjoy sunrises from the deck of our quaint, little 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage on Big Crooked Lake in Kent County, Michigan. Big Crooked Lake is a 152 acre, all sports, private lake, with great fishing for blue gill, perch, bass, pike and walleye. Private sandy beach & shallow swimming area on the property. There is also a no-wake cove, accessible by boat, where people anchor their boats to swim and socialize. The cottage is 900 sq. ft. and it will sleep 4 comfortably, one bedroom has a queen size bed, the other has two twin beds. Many amenities included such as a furnished kitchen, including basic food staples, dishes, coffee maker, also hair dryer, linens, iron & ironing board, bedding, towels & beach towels. We are also providing a grill, patio furniture, lawn/beach chairs, fire pit & fire wood and a sandy beach and dock! Fishing poles are available, but we recommend bringing your own favorite gear. We provide a 12' rowboat for our guests, which works great for fishing and paddling around the lake, it also has an electric motor with two lithium batteries. There is a private boat launch available if you want to bring your own boat, which you can dock at our dock and park your trailer at the cottage. Please be sure that any watercraft brought in from other lakes is clean and free of invasive species. All boaters must operate within the State of Michigan Boating Laws and BCL Association rules.There is a dock available on the property for fishing/swimming from and docking one boat.
We also have two kayaks for our guests to use.
The cottage is located near Rockford, MI. We are located within 12 miles of many cities, including northeast Grand Rapids, Cities of Rockford, Belding and Lowell. The smaller villages of Cannonsburg, Parnell and Grattan are within 5 miles and provide dining, pubs, convenience stores, bike paths, hiking, mountain biking and zip lining. Downtown Grand Rapids is 25 miles away. Grand Rapids features sporting events & concerts, a large conference center, restaurants, bars, museums and Art Prize! Nearby activities also include many golf courses, Meijer Gardens, West Michigan Whitecaps, minor league baseball team and many river walks & festivals with live music! We are 15 minutes away from Blythefield Country Club where the LPGA tour stops in June.
This is a quiet, friendly neighborhood on a dead-end gravel road, with young families, working couples and also retired people. The owners live next door and are readily available to assist if there are any questions or concerns.

Summary: every thing was awesome! my hosts were very nice folks. its the only place I've stayed that truly had EVERYTHING you need. the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots pans, and utensils. Very clean and well kept. Even came with a complimentary yellow lab to play fetch with. great little fishing lake. probably gonna go back this spring.

Summary: Owners, Jackie and Jim, were very generous with their time and their help, making us feel welcomed as they live next door. They have furnished many amenities that make an extended stay, ours was 26 nights, most pleasant. The electric grill was a bonus for us. Many meals were enjoyed on the deck and it was a beautiful place to relax or to read. It even has a shade solution, table and 4 chairs! Every inch of the cottage was clean. Another bonus was access to the lake with a small boat with an electric motor which we used for fishing. Having two kayaks allowed us to enjoy the lake at a leisurely pace. The cottage is less than 10 minutes from hiking and fishing at Pickerel Lake, Townsend Park and a grocery store. Downtown Rockford is about 15-20 minutes away. Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, a favorite of ours, is about 15-20 minutes away. If ever we needed to rent a cottage on a lake to be near our daughter’s family in Rockford, this would be on the top of our list! May, 2024

Summary: This was our second visit to this cottage and like the first it was an amazing stay. Just couldn’t ask for anything nicer. Cottage is equipped with anything you could possibly need including a very nice bottle of wine upon arrival. Located on a quiet dead end street in a great neighborhood and our hosts Jim and Jackie are two of the nicest people you could ever meet and fun to visit with.
