Summary: We spent a week in this peaceful environment. Martine and Christophe were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our chats with them. The small house is independent and at a distance from the main dwelling so we were private. We were invited to wander around the extensive gardens as much as we wished. Loved the pool which was covered at this time so the water was warm. Martine was happy for us to invite friends over for the day and we enjoyed a game of petanques. A well-equipped kitchen. We already knew the area very well and found St. Andre well-situated for the countryside and coast. To be recommended for a stay for 4 people. Thank you, Martine and Christophe.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay with Martine and Christophe in their little gitê. The living accommodation comprises of a living area with kitchen, table and basic sofa. In the other half there are two bedrooms, one double and one with a bunk bed. A shower room and separate toilet are adjacent. The beds were very comfortable! We were met by Christophe who has almost no English but by the power of Google we got through check-in without any issues! Martine then arrived and has basic English and is very bubbly and friendly. A bottle of wine was left for us on the table from the local vineyard and was so delicious we went and bought more from the local store which is about a 15 minute walk away next to a lovely little bakery. Everywhere you turn there are vineyards and hills and all is very picturesque. We ventured out to Gruissan a couple of times where there is a pleasant coastline with restaurants and lots of space for little ones to run around. We went to an indoor market in Narbonne which we can highly recommend for local goodies and if you have time you can sit and eat charcuterie and drink wine. We didn't do this but it looked very appealing! We also went to Carcasonne which is so pretty! We went to the old town which I believe can be very bust but not so in late September! Our biggest adventure was to Château de Quéribus which was about an hours drive away but quite stunning for the views and good exercise getting to the top! In the neighbouring town of Cucugnan you can have a stroll and a drink afterwards or even treat yourself to a treat from Les Maitres de Mon Moulin! Back at the ranch we had plenty of outdoor space to enjoy including a pool with retracting roof, barbecue area, pétanque court and various children play things. There is a goat to say hello to on your way to the pool and I counted 7 tortoises which are also pets in their own little area! Complimentary wine aside you will need to stock up on all basics for the kitchen including salt and pepper etc. but we recommend Géant Casino in Narbonne for everything you could possibly need and a lot more besides! Adjacent to this is a restaurant called La Bonne Heure which we recommend if you want to eat well for a fixed price! We also enjoyed a trip to La Forge Pizzeria Grill in neighbouring Bizanet where we sat outside and watched the world go by with the locals! All in all recommended by two fourty-somethings and one three-year-old!

Summary: We had such a lovely time on our week's holiday and the excellent gite was an important part of the experience. Martine and Christophe, in whose large grounds the gite is situated, were fantastic hosts, very friendly, helpful, responsive, and between our little bit of French and their little bit of English, we were able to communicate pretty well. We felt very welcome and very well looked-after. The gite is cosy and has everything needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Beds are comfy, the kitchen is well-equipped, the Italian shower is great, and the effective air-conditioning means the gite is a cool haven on very hot days. The pool is amazing, very well maintained and has amazing views. Guests have exclusive use of the pool between 10 and 6 and, between visits to other places, we tried to make good use of it. The local area is also lovely: the gite is just outside a sleepy village and within a short drive of Narbonne. We fell in love with Narbonne during our stay. It is very French, authentic and non-touristy and such a pretty, friendly town. There are many excellent restaurants, especially on either side of the canal. We ate extremely well and prices were very affordable - similar if not a little less than in the UK. Hiring an electric boat to explore the canal for a few hours was also a great decision. We visited several lovely local beaches and particularly liked Narbonne Plage, where you can rent very comfy sun loungers with parasols at reasonable prices. We had an exciting kayaking trip on the Orb, described as a very 'playful' river - it was certainly livelier than the Dordogne of a previous kayaking trip! Be prepared to get wet but it was a great experience. Altogether a wonderful holiday home in a excellent location, which we definitely plan to return to.

Summary: We really enjoyed our vacation in St-André-de-Roquelongue in September 2012. The property was perfect for our family: two adults and a six-month old baby. The owners were really welcoming and we received little surprises here and there, including eggs from their hens. It's a little piece of heaven, situated in a wonderful area of France and on a well-maintained property. The bathroom included a shower but no bath, but we gave a bath to our little one in the kitchen sink. There are so many things to do in the area, including wine tasting, Carcassonne, Cathar castles, beaches, the canal du midi, abbeys and churches (including the abbaye de Fontfroide, which is a must see)... We highly recommend this region as well as this rental property!
