3 Bedroom House in New Marlborough

Renovated schoolhouse on a quiet river in the Berkshires. This is the perfect place to unwind. Great for families and friends to relax and reconnect. Take a walk to the waterfalls, play croquet or volleyball on the lawn, gather dinner from our seasonal garden and enjoy 'smores around the fire pit. Very private and woodsy, but close to Butternut for skiing, Great Barrington for shopping and access to all the music and art the Berkshires has to offer. We are very close to some well known restaurants like Cantina 229, Old Inn on the Green and Gedney Farm. Home is stylish, comfortable and inviting. This house is perfectly cozy and you many never want to leave it! We provide all the basic staples ranging from bandaids, shampoo and an iron to coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and some necessary baking items. You will have all the pots and anything in the fridge and cabinets. We have wifi but you can easily unplug if that's what you're looking for. Smart TV to access your own accounts, Great DVD collection for all ages (no cable tv), games like Monopoly and Scrabble, CD collection, BBQ gas grill and charcoal and room to unwind. Don't forget to sign the walls in the downstairs bathroom! Our house is not suitable for toddlers and young children and is not child proofed, we are on a quiet road but there is a river so you will need to use your judgment and be safe. As for pets, we are not equipped for them and not a suitable place for them. We don't even bring our own dogs and cat. We are surrounded by beautiful serene woods but those woods have poison ivy and ticks. You don't want your lovely animals to mess with all that and suffer. And we don't want them bringing those elements inside the house. Thank you for your understanding.

Summary: Having grown up in New England, but now living in Florida, we planned this visit to enjoy some wintertime activities. House was cozy and a perfect location for day trips for hiking, snow tubing, shopping, and exploring the Berkshires. Would definitely stay here again.

Summary: This was our second stay at this absolutely perfect house in the Berkshires. We love the screened-in porch; the peaceful sound of the river flowing out back; the private lot; the well-equipped kitchen; and the stylish, cozy, and unfussy rooms. The property is quiet, lovely, and private, but you can easily get to Great Barrington and other towns for shopping and sight-seeing. There are several terrific hikes nearby, including a great one to Upanchene Falls. Cannot recommend this house enough!

Summary: Got together with family to see our 2 yo grandchild. House was comfortable and met expectations. Went for runs/walks and drove to small towns. The changing leaves were beautiful. Very happy with our choice and how it all worked out.

Summary: We had a great stay at this property. The house is charming and comfortable, and the porch is amazing! We spent all our free time there playing games, having cocktails and planning our next days adventures. The yard is also large and beautiful, and it is very lush, green and well cared for. The kitchen had everything we needed, and more! We really appreciated that they provided coffee (both regular and decaf)! The hosts provided very clear instructions on using things in the house, and a very thorough guest guide to things to do in the area, places to eat and outdoor activities. Communication with the host was easy and they were very responsive! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Southern Berkshires. Great little gem.

Summary: Four of us girls had not spent a weekend away for 10+ years and this was the best place to catch up and enjoy each other! The screened I. Porch was our favorite place and all slept great in this house! Went to the spa at soul and body and it was an amazing ! Really enjoyed the area of wineries and distilleries!

Summary: Lovely historical house but unfortunately our sister became very ill . We were very impressed with the local 911services. They were all prompt, competent and knowledgeable about what needed to be done. We were totally impressed especially since we were not local residents!

Summary: Wonderful property! Great patio and yard. Highly recommend.
Dawn L. May 28, 2024 09:50:35 AM
Summary: See from the pictures- a historic schoolhouse updated with modern touches. Exquisite nature views all around! the sound of the brook, the lovely screened in porch to read, nap, play board games... Kate stocked the home with everything guests would need - from extra towels & linens to toothbrushes (if you forgot yours) basic first aid supplies, even gifted us with a bottle of wine & cookies our first night. She was an incredible host, helping us to plan in advance and answering a few questions while on site. I suggested adding some black out roller blinds to the bedroom- but guests can overcome in the meantime by packing a sleeping mask! We loved being here- wished it could have been longer- our teen son asked to come back too! Enjoy this magical, well-appointed home! Thank you Kate!
