This extraordinary property is located on a ridge 45 feet above the Caribbean. The views of both oceans are truly breathtaking. From your large windows and extensive decks, you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and set over the Caribbean.
Buttonwood Reserve is situated on 50 acres, with beaches on both sides of the property. On the Atlantic side, Buttonwood has a world-class, 3-mile-long pink-sand beach, pristine, without a single house on it. This Atlantic side beach is accessed via our private, golf-carts only driveway. The property comes with a fleet of golf carts. This miles-long beach is virtually private for us, because the only other access is a rough and little used jeep track half a mile to the south. On the Caribbean side of our property, almost in your front yard, is a second beach, which has excellent snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing. This beach is small and rather rocky, so not so aesthetic, but it's as calm as a lake most of the time and perfect for the above activities.
If you're not in the mood for a swim in the ocean, slip into our resort-style pool. This beautiful landscaped pool is heated for comfortable swimming year-round.
Buttonwood Reserve comes with golf carts, kayaks, paddle board, and bikes, and we have just completed our new pickleball court! Other amenities include AC throughout and ceiling fans.
WE HAVE ALSO JUST INSTALLED SUPER-FAST FREE STARLINK INTERNET!
We have just installed a mini-gym equipped with a multifunction Smith machine cage, an Olympic weight rack, dip station, and a cable routed pulley system. Guests also have access to dumbbells and a fitness/yoga mat. This is an open-air gym, fully roofed with 3 walls.
Buttonwood Reserve consists of eight 2-bedroom, 2-bath condos, and the Main Lodge, which is the central gathering place for the property. The Main Lodge includes a large ocean-view living area, dining area that can seat up 30+, an extra-large kitchen with two ranges, two ovens, and two refrigerators, and a vast deck overlooking the Caribbean. The Main Lodge also has a master bedroom with a king bed and an ocean view, one bath, and two sleeping lofts suitable for teenagers.
Each condo at Buttonwood features a large great room with an 8-foot sliding glass door with spectacular Caribbean views. The slider opens onto a large deck furnished for lounging or dining while watching the sun set over the sea. The great room includes a living area with flat-screen satellite TV, a dining area with seating for six, and a modern, open-plan, luxurious kitchen finished in stainless steel and black granite. All areas have magnificent ocean views in every direction.
The master bedroom of each condo features a large upholstered window seat with panoramic views of the Caribbean, a perfect spot to relax with a book or a morning coffee. The master is furnished with a king bed and equipped with an en-suite full bath. The master has a private door leading to the deck.
The guest bedroom of each condo also features a large window seat. The guest bedrooms of the upper level units enjoy spectacular Atlantic Ocean views. The guest bedroom has a full en-suite bath (which can be accessed from the hall as well). The guest bedroom is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a king.
Buttonwood is located just one mile from the village of James Cistern, which has grocery stores, restaurants, a liquor store, and town dock where you can at times purchase fresh fish. Three excellent restaurants are within walking distance of Buttonwood, including LeoRose, Delish, and Mels' Snack Shack. Famous Stubbs Barbecue is two miles up the road.
The island's main town, Governors Harbour, is a 15 minute drive. The main airport is a 45 minute drive from the property. A small airport is just 5 minutes away. Governors Harbour has restaurants, grocery stores, several gift shops, and a lovely collection of historic homes overlooking the harbor. Live music is available most evenings at one of the restaurants or little resorts.

Summary: We rented the whole property for 30. It was fabulous! Each condo was decorated beautifully. We as the parents lived in the Main House where our family met every evening for cocktails, dinner or late night. The outside deck was gorgeous overlooking the Caribbean and you couldn’t beat the sunsets! We hired Brenda and Patrick to cook a couple of nights. They are a must! So warm and welcoming! Loved Buttonwood!

Summary: We booked this property because we wanted each family to have privacy. It was a perfect location for a large group. We rented all 8 condos and the main house. We booked Kaynell as a chef for the stay. Kaynell and her sister Pebbles prepared 3 meals a day for the group. Having a chef is a must. With a group of 17 the logistics of eating out would have been a nightmare. We ate out 1 day for lunch and it took us 2 hours. There are not a lot of options near the complex to eat. So if you are a group book a chef. We also booked a bartender for 5 nights. Joanne and Kelly who own "Cocojo Bahamas" are awesome. They come to the main house and set everything up. It was such a treat. Highly recommend them for your gathering. Access to the beaches is not as convienet as I would have liked but the purpose of the trip was to be together as a family. The location is more isolated than I prefer. It is a drive to get to activities. The island is much larger then you realize. Our group did do a day trip to Governors Harbour. It has a great Caribbean town vibe. So make a trip there for sure and spend the day. Over all the group had a good time. The privacy and accommodations for each family out weighed any issue we may have had. Matt who monitors the property for VRBO was fabulous. Very communicative and had great advice on any question I asked.

Reviewer Comments: We rented out the entire Buttonwood Reserve and it was a wonderful place for our group of 36 to vacation! Centrally located in the middle of Eleuthera, we could get anywhere we wanted to go in within an hour or less. We rented cars at the airport to make it easy to get around. We also hired a wonderful chef for the week for our dinners and it was great to all eat together in the main lodge and to see the beautiful sunsets each night! The main lodge gave us a central spot to gather and play games together when we weren't in our individual condos. The pool was a really nice place to hang out and was very clean. It is quite shallow in the shallow end, which was perfect for our toddlers! All the condominiums were very attractively decorated, comfortable and clean with beautiful views!! The beds were very comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful! We went to nearby James Cistern for groceries, the bakery, bottled water, etc. We also went there for Delish Lifestyles and LeoRose beach bars in the afternoons a few times. That was lots of fun! Governors Harbour was a reasonable drive and we went there for Tippy's Beach Bar, the ice cream shop and for a very nice lunch at the French Leave Resort. We also spent a great day at French Leave Beach. We visited several of the other nice beaches in the area and took a FABULOUS excursion with Captain Kid and Sons out of Gene's Bay Ferry Dock. So many fun things to do that we couldn't do it all. As always, we had a few challenges but they worked out fine and overall it was a GREAT trip!

We look forward to coming back to visit again. The location on the island is perfect for visiting both the north and south of the island but we quickly learned there was hardly any reason to go far from the property as there were excellent beaches close by and some excellent fresh food options just down the road at delish!

Summary: Our purpose was to have a surprise 70th Birthday party/family reunion, which included 42 people. We rented out all 8 units and it was so comfy! Each unit is equipped with two bedrooms, two baths, washer/dryer, kitchen/diningroom, and living room area, and a lanai that overlooks the ocean! Each unit also has it's own golf cart. The units are high quality! The staff was so personable that I feel like we left family behind when we had to return home. A magazine worthy beach, called Cocodimama, is right down the road, which we took advantage of. We hired a cook, Andrew and Felicity, which I would highly recommend. The grounds are well kept and the keepers are stellar. Sonya, the property manager, was incredible and I hope we can return soon!

Summary: This property was exactly what we needed for our large group of 30, multiple families getting together from 2 states to enjoy Spring Break in the Bahamas. Each condo was well maintained, well appointed with what families needed and had amazing views. Everyone loved the golf carts, amazing sandy private Atlantic beach with great waves, Caribbean beach for snorkeling and kayaking and heated pool. Property is in a great central location on Eleuthera, people made it from Light House Beach in the South to Harbour Island and Spanish Wells in the North and everything in between on our days there. Very close to grocery store in James Cistern. Sonya the property manager and her staff were welcoming and accommodating. If you are thinking about a trip to a family island in the Bahamas, where you can spend days being the only people an beach after beautiful beach this is the place for you!
