Positive: Very hospitable. Very nice. Clean rooms. Worth the money spent.

Negative: Not really walking distance to anything good. But not that bad. The homeless asking for money all day was a little annoying. Inside i felt safe, outside not so much.

Summary: Worth it. Would do it again.

Positive: Good location right across the street from Balboa Park and within easy walking distance of lots of places like Little Italy and restaurants with vegan options. Easily found free on-street parking within 4 blocks all 3 nights. The 2 men in the office were very friendly and helpful when I actually found them there on my second day.

Negative: I was right under the airport flight path, and though I used the provided ear plugs, the noise was bad except between 11pm and 6.30am, though my sleep/wake cycle is more like 10pm to 4.15am. My first night I ran the fan all night, but it didn't help so the other nights I just left the windows open. There is a LOT of light in the room all night because some of the blinds don't close fully and the window into the little sitting area from the stairway has no blind at all. I was very glad I had an eye mask with me. I had a lot of trouble reaching the sticks to try to adjust the blinds as I'm only 5'3". Longer sticks would have been nice. The guys in the office did not respond at all to 2 voicemails and 2 emails through booking.com. the check-in emails I got said office hours are 9am to 6pm, but they seem to actually be there 8am to maybe 4pm. That's why I wasn't able to get more hangers than the 2 there to start with until after my first 2 nights there, since they didn't respond to the email requesting more. There is a lamp on either side of the bed, but otherwise the lighting is super-bright bulbs in the very high ceilings. Having a reading lamp in the sitting room would have been nicer since I enjoyed sitting there to read. But the 2 chairs there are also so huge that I wished there were a cushion to put between my back and the back of the chairs so I didn't have to either slump so any part of my back was supported, or sit like a small child with my legs straight out in front of me. Likewise, all the bed pillows were so huge and thick that I had to sleep with my neck cricked. At 5'3", I'm short but not tiny! Also, though the unit is only up 2 short flights of stairs, I have no idea where the water heater is in relation to it, but all 3 days I had to run the shower for a full 2 minutes before any hot water came out, and then it took some time before it got too hot so I could finally mix in some cold water.

Summary: Not bad enough to leave early, but I wouldn't stay here again.
