Summary: The paint was peeling, I hit my head on the ceiling multiple times and the $32.50 daily fee for "incidentals" was the kicker. Realizing that the building and the others around the area were likely built with slave labour played on my conscience.

Summary: The room was kept clean, but housekeeping could use some pointers. I stayed for 3 nights. The first 2 nights that the room was cleaned, housekeeping left the door unlocked when they left. Due to the old locks, I always double-checked that the lock was engaged when we left for the day. The third night, housekeeping removed one of the pillows from the bed and left us short one. The way the "houses" are set up, we couldn't just call the front desk and request another one.

Summary: Lovely experience, as always. The Colonial Houses are very neat, though some seem to be in need of an interior refresh. Fun to be amidst the action and very convenient though. The location can’t be beat, and the Inn staff is great. Nice gym too.

Summary: Overall, the hotel was very nice, but unfortunately our stay was negatively impacted by a major issue: the air conditioning in our room was broken. We called the front desk, but they informed us that nothing could be done until the morning. They did not offer to move us to another room or even provide a fan. As a result, we were unable to sleep because the room was uncomfortably hot. It was clear the problem was specific to our room, as the hallway outside was significantly cooler. The front desk in the morning said the best they could do was refund us $30, which was disappointing.

Summary: We usually go several times a year to Williamsburg. This was the second time we stayed in the Colonial Houses. It’s a true experience. Nothing fancy but if you’re a Williamsburg enthusiasts like we are, then you would enjoy staying in the housing. They are conveniently located within walking distance to all the activities.

Summary: We booked one house and got booked in another house, which was fine, but odd- as the air conditioning upstairs did not work in the one we got rebooked to. The house was very clean and the overall experience was fine. There was an odd concierge who made a big deal about us booking through a different platform and not booking directly through them, which put us off from asking for any more support from the Inn.

Summary: Colonial houses are an opportunity to stay right in the midst of historic Williamsburg . The location could not be any more convenient. We stayed at Brick House Tavern on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and the room nicely decorated. However the rooms were last updated about 30-40 years ago estimating by the fixtures, etc. The rooms rates are reasonable based on location but are not reasonable based on the out of date locks (old fashioned brass keys) , bathroom plumbing and scarcity of electric outlets . An upgrade is needed. The room was very clean and bed comfortable so the basics were there. With taxes and fees we paid just over $200 nightly . At that level an upgrade is appropriate.

Summary: This was my wife and myself 6th trip to Williamsburg. Previous 5 trips were with family and stayed at one the resorts outside of the park. This trip was just the two of us and stayed in the Chiswell-Bucktrout. Nicely modernized with a comfy queen bed/private bath with the ambience of an earlier time. Loved our stay.
