Positive: Exceptionally beautiful house and gardens, extending into orchards and fields, and the Incredible sight of Dore Abbey at the bottom of the garden, lending a spiritual air over the tranquil pastures. My husband and brother particularly enjoyed collecting the abundance of fallen apples and Comice pears, enough to give a sample to family we met in Abergavenny & Ross on Wye, as we are from Jersey in the Channel Islands it was an opportunity to meet Family from Newport area. The house was beyond my expectations, the best equipped I have ever stayed in, the downstairs bedrooms were perfect for myself and my husband being senior citizens, while my younger brother was very happy upstairs in the Ensuite bedroom, for a little alone time with the TV. The sitting room was very comfortable and the overall decor throughout, warm and Inviting. The little village of Eywas Harold, which we passed on our return route was a welcome sight, with a cheery well stocked local shop (closed 6.30), and excellent fish & chip shop (closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). The Temple Inn food was good, if a little pricy, The village car park being handy for a stroll through the lovely churchyard & easy parking free for a long stay. Travel time equidistant to Hereford, Hay & Ross on Wye, about 30mins drive. Overall a very relaxing week. Thank you Mrs Morgan - Jones, maybe we will meet at some future date.

Negative: Possible downstairs mattresses need replacing ? I don't think they were new as we found the downstairs double bed rather "springy" and hard for our old bones, ( like Goldilocks ), we settled on the two singles, though I popped back in the double and back to single again, but similarly not very comfortable. We did not let it spoil our holiday though as it was only a week. I must admit changing our wardrobes over more than once was very amusing, albeit confusing.

Summary: Everything you could wish for, and more, exceeded our expectations x

Positive: Location is good as many places are accessible within 1-2 hours but be prepared to travel slowly down long winding lanes to get to a main road. However, local traffic is respectful. The local village pub, post office and chip shop were good. The lounge in the accommodation was very comfortable. The beds were comfortable. Lots of equipment eg vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, washing machine etc. Lovely garden with view of Dore Abbey. The hosts were very pleasant and asked us to let them know if they could make our stay good. We did not make any complaints at the time.

Negative: The kitchen was downstairs from the lounge with steepish winding stairs up to the lounge. Not really great for people with mobility issues or the elderly. Also inconvenient for anyone in the evenings to keep going up and downstairs. The fridge had not been wiped clean and still had crumbs of cheese etc inside. Spiders and webs in bedrooms, in particular the twin room, which we had to remove with the vacuum cleaner. Slugs in various places. As we arrived just an hour after cleaning those aspects should have been addressed. The bed sheets in the twin room had black bits on them and I wonder if they had been changed from the previous occupant as they were very creased in the middle. I know from sheets on my beds at home that these patterns show up after guests have stayed. The entrance vestibule had not been cleaned. Very poor showering facilities. Only one walk in shower which is on the ground floor. It was dangerous to use as there was no safety mat..we had to use the one from the upstairs bathroom which does not have a shower. Also the downstairs shower and screen are very deep but with no rail to hold onto to get in and out so quite dangerous with the danger of falling/slipping for all users including the elderly and children. Only an old much used hand wash in downstairs bathroom, not all washrooms as stated on the Covid precautions stated on the website and on instructions in the kitchen itself.
