Summary: Everything worked great and the boat was super reliable.

Summary: To preface my review, we usually tent camp at Powell. This year we decided to try this houseboat. My family used to own a houseboat very similar to this one about 15 years ago so we have done our fair share of house boating also. The houseboat is on a buoy at Bullfrog Marina. It is in a great location, it is at the end of the buoy field facing the end of the bay so we were able to watch our teen kids ride jet skis and tube from the deck in the shade with very little boat traffic. We had a little trouble with getting the back slider door key to work, but it was not a problem to lock it on the last day so maybe it was just me. If you decide to rent this boat, it is an older boat, do not expect a Bravada Luxury houseboat. There are spiders, and sand, and rust, etc., The owner is a DIY-er so there were wires and different lights everywhere that we had no idea how to use or what they are for. That being said, the most important things worked. The fridge/freezer worked great, there was a clean toilet, and the nights sleeping on the roof under the stars were amazing. We never took it off the buoy, we never ran the engines so I cannot comment on that. The BBQ took a long time to heat and cook, but we did cook a fantastic tri-tip on it among other things, you just have to start earlier then you normally would. The stove worked awesome, we had big breakfasts every morning. I liked the porta-potty better than a black tank because we just took the "drawer" into Bullfrog to dump instead of having to move the whole houseboat. They have a ton of stuff on the houseboat, I would have liked a little more space for our food and bags. Fishing rods were on the top bunk, lots If you have small children, they already have it toddler-proofed and tons of kid toys. My youngest was 15 so we did not use any of it, but if you do have small kids, the boat is ready to go. T The splash pad was one of the favorite things. The kids played on it for hours. The rooftop loungers were very nice and comfortable. They had lots of extra buoys that we used to tie up our jet skis and boat. The blue paint on the boat did rub off on to our buoys and ropes, so now we just call them bluoys. We had a fantastic time and look forward to doing it again next year. Thank you!

Summary: Positives: lots of sleeping space, decor, LED lights on back, grill, emergency boat supplies if needed. Improvement need: A/C is a portable swamp cooler that made it muggy on the boat. Toilet is a small port-a-potty, it was not adequate for a week-long trip for 7 people. Plus it was not very fun to empty. The fridge worked ok, but don't plan on ice-cream. Water came over the front when we went too fast and it came over the back when we tried to tow our small boat. Glad we brought our own paper towels, pots, and new dish rags. You might want to consider houseboats from the established parks vendor.

Summary: The Hosts were awesome to work with. They provided a detailed manual prior to check in for me to review. They answered all of my questions and gave me some pro tips about houseboating and using their house boat. 5/5 stars for the hosts. 4/5 stars for the houseboat. Pros: Houseboat at Lake Powell!!! Consider yourself lucky if you can rent a houseboat. In most cases you have to schedule them a year in advance. The generator worked great and was super easy to start even though we only used it to power the microwave. Everything else was powered by batteries and solar which worked flawlessly. The boat was easy to navigate and the anchor system worked great. The beds were quite comfortable and you could easily sleep a large family or multiple small families if you utilize the air mattresses on the upper deck. The boat uses a Thetford porta potti which works well. At first, I thought I would have preferred a typical RV sewage system with blackwater holding tank, but then you would have to spend extra time and money to get that pumped out at the end of the trip. The Thetford uses a 5 gallon holding tank which was plenty for my family of 5 for 4 nights. We did not use the shower/hot water/ potable water system so I cannot comment on those. The houseboat had everything that we needed and more. The hosts had left fishing poles, kneeboard, a large Overtons Splash Island. The splash island was a huge hit for my kids. Cons: I didn't realize that there are two buoy fields at bullfrog marina and it took a little longer than expected to find the boat. We also wasted time trying to get into the boat as we didn't realize that the keys are for the locks in the top corner of the sliding glass door and not for the lock on the handle. I couldn't figure out how to use the accessory "toy" gas tank and there was no detailed instructions of it in the manual on the houseboat. There was a fair amount of sand throughout the boat and a few spiders, but in fairness my understanding is that spiders are common and sand is a guarantee. The port side motor was a bit of a pain to start as the throttle doesn't seem to click into neutral. The motors otherwise ran great and are brand new including the throttle levers. The grill and the fridge/freezer work as advertised, but are somewhat unimpressive. I wouldn't plan on grilling hamburgers for a large group as it is kind of a slow process. Overall a good experience with the boat would rent again
