Summary: We had 3 couples staying for 3 nights. First, the property manager (Katie) and owner were outstanding. They were at the house when we arrived and gave us the history and a full tour of the house (a converted church!). Katie was always available to answer questions and we were very impressed at the amenities offered including some delicious homemade cookies, coffee/espresso maker and they welcomed us to use much of the refrigerator contents. The "open welcome" was the best we've ever had and we immediately felt like family vs. renters! This is a home that you will never see again. It's a converted church turned into an exceptional art museum and interior design gallery. Every place you look you see something new - but always in excellent taste, clean and uncluttered. We enjoyed getting pizza from the local market, just a block away and spent a couple days in Springfield visiting the Lincoln museum and library. The only suggestion is to ensure people know that there are two huge bedrooms, each with sitting rooms and baths. The third bedroom is very small with no storage space. We made due and were very pleased that a downstairs bath with shower was available for this third couple. Other than this, we all loved staying at this very unique and beautiful home. Summary: We truly enjoyed our stay. It’s a fun and quirky place with a whole lot of visual interest. There were 6 of us, the youngest is almost 18. Everyone loved playing pool and hanging out in the sanctuary. The owner and property manager were attentive and helpful. I highly recommend staying in this unique property.

Summary: We have stayed in a number of high-end VRBO properties across the U.S. but this may be our favorite. Loami is a small town in the middle of beautiful farmland not far from Springfield. The calming atmosphere of this home fits perfectly in that setting, with lush gardens of lavender, roses, and bumblebees going about their business. The house is a marvel of carefully curated art, furniture, and stained glass windows. The converted sanctuary is a large gathering space and there are several private seating areas off the amply spaced bedrooms. We were there to attend a memorial service in Springfield but would go back just to stay at Periwinkle. Katie, our hostess, was delightfully friendly and very responsive to any questions.

Summary: This property is stunning. Beautifully decorated. It has a presence that is very relaxing and rejuvenating. Unique in how they have transformed the church into a home, but much more than a home - a sanctuary. WE LOVED IT!

Summary: We spent three wonderful nights at The Church by Periwinkels in Loami. The owners were great and gave us an extensive tour of the property when we arrived, pointing out numerous features of the house. Our favorite was the Great Room which was the converted sanctuary. It had lots of room for our family, a pool table, a couple of nice seating areas and a treasure trove of art and antiques to explore. The bedrooms were all nice, beautifully decorated and well-spaced so everyone could spread out. The dining room was huge and the kitchen well stocked with what we needed over our stay. There was also a large office/workspace with a great work-table that we used to play family games on. Wi-Fi was very good and reliable. It was cold when we were there so we didn’t get much time to spend outside or on the balcony, but the yard and balcony looked like they would be wonderful places to spend time in the summer. The art, furnishings, stained glass windows, tableware, lighting and other features all coordinate to be a welcoming beautiful rental. We are glad we stayed here.
