Summary: The Chief Motel is a great budget motel. Clearly a locally run motel, it was clean and safe. The woman at the front desk was helpful in answering questions and even provided a capful of laundry soap for a load of laundry. Some areas of the motel show signs of age and a few small areas in the room could use a little patching or paint. However, it was clean and smelled fresh. The room was cleaned and towels replenished daily. A laundry mat and car wash are directly next to the motel. There was a cafe across the street. Walmart and HyBee were within walking distance. For those visiting Nauvoo, it's 10 minutes to the Mississippi River bridge and then another 10 minutes to Nauvoo. This is a perfect option for travelers on a budget.

Summary: I checked reviews before booking and there were many saying it was clean. Wonder what their homes look like. My room was filthy. Something is growing on top of the fridge and the freezer was filthy. The furniture was not in good shape. The supplies for the kitchen area was minimal. No dish soap or paper towels. It was also noisy. Could hear the people above walking. It is on main st and the traffic was expected. The owners were great and nice people
