Flagstaff House | Chautauqua Neighborhood in Central Boulder/Lovely 4 BR/3 BA

4 Bedroom House in Flagstaff, Boulder

This lovely four bedroom home with fully renovated interior and outdoor spaces is perfect for family entertaining. Owners live here for much of the year and the property is available on a limited basis, mainly in the summer. City of Boulder Short-Term Rental License Number RHL2016-00026. Note language below about on-line booking.
Large upscale home (~2,800 sq ft) is located 2.5 blocks from Chautauqua Park and the majestic Boulder Flatirons. Ideal, quiet neighborhood furnished with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and all amenities. Open living space on main floor with beautiful kitchen/living room/dining room. 2 BR/1BA on main floor, 2 BR/2 BA on upper floor. Lower floor family room with custom HD flat screen entertainment center. Top floor deck with spectacular views of Flatirons. Main floor has perfect flow to back deck for indoor-outdoor entertaining. Large south-facing atrium entrance captures solar energy and bright light.
House is fully equipped with high-quality kitchen and linen supplies. Granite countertops, 10-person dining room table, breakfast bar for three, piano, and tasteful artwork. Fantastic restaurants and shopping nearby. On-demand movie streaming, Blu Ray DVD, & Bluetooth stereo system, but no cable TV. Plenty of reading material and wi-fi throughout the house.
Home is centrally located, approximately 12 blocks west of the University of Colorado but far enough away from campus to be peaceful and perfect for morning or evening walks. Traveling to Pearl Street Mall is about a 3 minute drive, 5 minute bike ride, or 15 minute walk. There is a self-contained English garden space with own entrance that may occasionally be occupied by owner (this space is in addition to the 2800 sq ft noted above). We are an active family who lives in the house for much of the year, but travel much of the summer and other select times during the year. The home is very well maintained and clutter free.
We live in a quiet neighborhood and prefer to rent to vacationers who will not have a negative impact on the neighbors. Specifically, that means the fewer automobiles the better, no large parties are allowed, and longer stays (over 3 days) are prioritized. The house can sleep up to 10, but we prefer to limit families to 8 and the number of vehicles to 2, or at most 3, in order to minimize impact on neighbors. According to Boulder regulations, no more than 5 unrelated people can rent the house; in other words any group of more than 5 should be related family.
We prefer to speak to vacationers in advance of booking and do not have instant on-line booking enabled. The reservation process is safe and streamlined.
30 minutes drive to Eldora Ski Resort, 2 hours to the major ski resorts (Vail, Copper, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge), and about 40 minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park (Estes Park), Denver, Blackhawk Casino, and other fantastic Colorado destinations.

Summary: Great location! Easy access to Chautauqua Park, restaurants. Safe neighborhood. Clean but could stand a 'detailing.' Split-level house which was not a deal-breaker as it was apparent from listing photos, but something to know for accessibility reasons etc. Responsive host. Fairly priced. Multi-generational trip that everyone enjoyed!

Summary: We had a family vacation in Boulder for about a week. The location was excellent for walking to Pearl Street for dining and nightlife, and also for hiking in the Flatirons area about three blocks away. We did excursions to Rocky Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, Red Rocks, Clear Creek Canyon, white water rafting and other adventures. It was very easy to get through Boulder from the house to these front range attractions. The house was very well represented on the web site. The kitchen was fully provisioned with utensils, spices, everything we needed after purchasing basic groceries. The host, Jeff, was very responsive and accommodating. The checkout process was simple, without the overbearing, specific rules we've found at other properties. We would absolutely stay here again.

Summary: Would not stay again. Home was not very clean, not up to VRBO standard and likely not done by a cleaning crew prior to our arrival (food splatter left on counters, mold in one shower, stains on bedding in master, toilet seat not tight in another). There were insects inside on both levels. Many owner personal items were left about the home, making our experience uncomfortable (toothbrushes, razors, bath products, old pot scrubber, etc...). What was "theirs" and "ours to use" was difficult to distinguish--towels as primary example. VRBO lists as "whole house" but owner was staying in downstairs room, something we didn't discover until check in. If this was to be the case we should have been told in advance to enable a rebook. Further, the door leading to the room he was in was not securable from the inside (no hasp or physical lock other than a push button interior door lock that had a key access from his side). Front door was the same---no physical hasp or barrier inside beyond the electronic lock. Appliances all worked, plenty of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. It is a lovely family home, it just hadn't been turned into a VRBO level property prior to our arrival. Last, info papers left by owner stated that home is not child safe. This needs to be stated in the listing. We were originally planning to bring 3 kids, but due to a family emergency they cancelled. This would have been an issue for us had they come. Putting this here so others will know.

Summary: We stayed with our two adult children for the Thanksgiving holiday, and hosted Thanksgiving dinner for our family +2 friends. The house was fully equipped, spacious so that everyone had plenty of room, wonderfully large table and seats for the meal, two ovens! The location was perfection for our hikes in Chautauqua Park. and closeness to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s for meal prep. Jeff was tremendously, responsive, and left excellent instructions for that house, contents, and details. The home though large was warm and cozy. 5 star!

Summary: Very good communication and instructions from the owner. It’s a quiet, safe neighborhood that is walking distance to hiking trails at Chautauqua and a short Uber to Pearl Street and the Hill. House was well stocked with everything we needed and beds were very comfortable.

Summary: We loved our stay in this house near Chautauqua, with great access to hiking and many amenities. The property actually seemed bigger than the photographs, which is rare! We had everything we needed for our special visit to Boulder to celebrate an important occasion with our family and close friends. I would love to return here and would recommend this property with no reservations. The host was very responsive but never intrusive. A real find!

Summary: Our family really enjoyed our stay in this welcoming home in the Chautauqua Park neighborhood. It was conveniently located near the hiking trails and also close to the “Hill” where we were moving our son back to the CU campus. Plenty of space to spread out and a beautiful backyard oasis. The house was very clean and had all of the amenities you would need. Communication with the owner was fantastic. We would definitely stay again.

Summary: The house was perfect for us! Plenty of space and the backyard was perfect for kids. Walking distance to the foothills and the owner was very responsive and helpful.

Summary: The location is fabulous and the house has some excellent features. Overall grade is A- based on a few shortcomings. Gaining entrance was a piece of cake; however, we were not able to access the Wi-Fi. Called the manager and it seems that the website had not been updated. Not cool. And, speaking of not cool, the cooling system in the house was not operating properly and it was extremely hot in the house. To be fair, it was exceptionally hot in Boulder the week we were there. Other issues: windows could not be opened; screen on door to the patio was broken enabling insects to fly in. The kitchen was well-equipped and we had a few lovely and fun group meals. Additional dish towels are needed in the kitchen. There were only two. Trash and Recycling instructions were pretty clear. But, where was that compost bin? We looked and looked. The only thing we saw was an open mesh box that was filled with yard waste. We ended up disposing foodscraps in Trash. Not ideal. Bathrooms were OK (the one in the main BR was great). However, the towel situation was not adequate. Bath towels were few, old and and mismatched. Same for hand towels and wash cloths. A few were discovered by looking through all cabinets. Likewise, the bedding was awful. Didn't match, flannel sheets from winter (?), maybe not all clean. Ah, speaking of clean, the entire house could use a good cleaning. Not just dusty; house not clean. Having said all this, we did have a great time and the location was ideal!
