Negative: We were shocked to find dozens of bugs in the room, limited warm water and heating, lack of care for furniture and cleanliness, no WiFi available. We stayed in many European castles, but this is far from the owner’s claim “our goal at Château la Bainerie is to ensure your complete satisfaction”.

Positive: The chateau is a lovely place to stay. It’s furnished with items that compliment it.We only stayed one night as it was a stop over for us for driving further south. We met the owner who made us feel most welcome and told us to ask if we needed anything. She put on a great choice for breakfast which was served in the grand dining room. I have never stayed in a chateau before but would recommend this to all

Positive: We loved the delightful Meenu who was hostess and housekeeper, and the only person to manage the hotel. The front communal lounge rooms and the breakfast room were charming. And the view from the front and only balcony was superb over the fields of sunflowers, brown cows and farms.

Negative: The 2 bedrooms were extremely small, hardly chateau like, and not as pictured on the website. No balconies. Personal effects of an absent member of staff were left in the bathroom. One bedroom had only one small window overlooking an unattractive driveway. There is no kitchen that produces dinner and guests were sent off site into the nearby village to find a meal, even though our booking for dinner at the hotel was accepted and guaranteed!!

Summary: After the initial shock of the basic rooms, the pleasant hostess made our stay enjoyable.

Negative: Wifi wasn’t strong , no TV in the bedroom … I hope they’d provide coffee maker inside the room in the future …
