Positive: Beautiful complex, pool area is great. Without the car it is hard to reach.

Negative: Fitness area is open only till 8PM. I went there with my 7 year old kid, sign said under 16 it is not aloud to use equipment but in real life worker came and told it was forbidden for my kid to stay in gym room at all. So i couldnt do workout at all.

Positive: Nice location and very good restaurant at a wonderful location (with heaters at night!). Great swimming pool as well as the tennis court. Big fitness area. The room was spacious and the beds were good.

Negative: There was almost no connection for calling and the phone at the room didn’t work. You have to leave the location, down the hill (2 miles) to do a phone call. The swimming pool for the kids is VERY LOUD. There is also a swimming pool for adults only (18+) but difficult if you have children of 16 and 17 years old, and too bad that a young internal had to make a remark for that!

Summary: Great location good for a second visit.

Positive: The property had a peaceful, relaxing ambience. It was quiet at night, and we could open the balcony door for fresh air, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The on-site restaurant offers a beautiful view and live music, which added a nice touch to the evening.

Negative: The main pool and jacuzzi were packed with kids, but it was nice that they had an adults-only pool and jacuzzi as well. The restaurant food was just okay for me, though my child really enjoyed it. One downside: the urns were overflowing with empty cans, and more were scattered around. Also, valet service wasn’t offered — I was told to drive and find parking on my own, which felt a bit inconvenient.

Negative: The parking. Lots of wasted time driving around. There should be a designated parking spot for at least one car if you’re paying for a room.

Negative: The pools are much smaller than what they looked like in the pics. One of them was closed and the other one was so crowded that we gave up . The long chair area was also pretty packed. Santa Cruz has both the ocean and a vibrant downtown. This hotel is a 15 min drive from all of that. We decided for this hotel hoping for a glorious afternoon at the pool. It was pretty disappointing. Staff was also not really on top of things. We have witnessed folks still waiting for their room at 4:45pm, some negotiations around food service in the pool area. We waited 50 min for our food at dinner.

Summary: Not worth staying away from beach / downtown

Negative: They were full and under staff. My room had the carpet soaked, and it took almost 24 hours for them to arrange another room. The staff attitude was unacceptable. I had stayed here before and was looking forward to enjoy the facilities, but it just increased my stress.
