Chalet Steingärtli 1 is a stylish modern holiday apartment located in the beautiful family-friendly "car-free" mountain village and ski resort of Wengen, Chalet Steingärtli 1 is conveniently located 4 - 6 minutes (300m) walk from central Wengen and the train station and is also only 60 meters from the ski piste into the village.
This wonderful apartment is on the ground floor and has a south-facing stone terrace and a large lawned garden with views towards the Jungfrau and surrounding mountains. It has 2 spacious bedrooms, both have king-size double beds (European size). There are 2 bathrooms, one with a bathtub and shower overhead and one with a shower cubicle.
The stylish open-plan kitchen dining living room is a great space for entertaining with a large dining table and enough seating for 8 people. And for al fresco dining, there is a dining table and chairs on the garden terrace under the covered area for shade on sunny days.
The kitchen is well equipped for “home” cooking and entertaining. It includes an electric ceramic hob, fan-assisted oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso capsule coffee machine, fondue Chinoise, cheese fondue and raclette grill.
There is a cosy double-glazed "reading room" just off the living-dining area which is a great place to relax. The apartment is bright and airy with both bedrooms also having wonderful south-facing views towards the garden and mountains beyond.
The 2 double bedrooms are spacious and each has a desk which could be used as a workspace.
There are two modern bathrooms. The main bathroom has a bathtub with a shower overhead and WC. It also has a speaker linked to the HiFi music system in the kitchen. The second private bathroom has a shower cubicle and WC and is located just off the shared chalet entrance hallway.
There is a private washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room just off the shared entrance hallway and is available for use by guests. There is indoor ski storage available in the shared stairwell just outside the apartment.

Wengen is a car-free village. You can reach Wengen only by train. Park your car at Lauterbrunnen Station and take the train to Wengen. The train ride to Wengen takes approximately 15 minutes.
The trains from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen depart every 30 minutes until 21:30 and then hourly. Taxis are available for hire at Wengen train station if require assistance to the chalet.

Summary: We just back home from staying in beautiful Wengen, Switzerland. This place was such an added bonus to our stay. The prior communication, the instructions of getting the key after hours, to continuous questions answers, a beautiful place, very clean, full kitchen, amazing views, a lovely “winter room” comfortable beds etc..This was a perfect place for us to spend our trip in beautiful Switzerland. Summary: We are two couples who enjoyed a townhome with a view, nice patio and a washer and dryer. Loved the cows ringing their cow bells, music to our ears. Glad no one was coming and going above us, since one of the bathrooms was out in the common hall area. Super quiet. Would rent here again.

Summary: The home was beautiful and SO perfectly located in Wengen! Truly just a 4-minute walk from the train station (no need to catch a taxi, even with luggage, you can do it!) Our hosts (the management company) were amazingly responsive and had great suggestions for hikes, restaurants, etc. Kitchen is small but very clean and had ALL the utensils and appliances we needed (we even cooked dinner twice during our stay). If you come during summer, bring a few personal fans just to be safe. Open windows brought in a nice breeze but it was quite hot outside, so we were wishing for a few fans in the evenings/sleeping! But it was SO worth it for the location and views alone! You can see the peak of the Jungfrau (and many other mountains of course) from the backyard and windows. Do take careful note of the listing description--yes, there are 2 full baths, and one really is in the shared entryway (the entryway shared with the upstairs half of the house, and the W/D is also shared). We were really hesitant about that bathroom, but the manager assured us--and she was right--that this bathroom really was exclusive to our apartment and that the family upstairs knew that very well and would never even open the door. Our toiletries were completely safe and private in that bathroom---we just ran quickly the 5 feet between bathroom and apartment door after showers! We loved EVERY moment there!
