Positive: The rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated - in fact the decor was stunning. Dom and Shelby are extremely hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble. From arrival - Easy parking. Clearly signposted. Shelby set up a lovely table outside so my mum and I could eat some food and enjoy the garden. She made us tea. We were also offered wine and Perrier etc. The rooms were so well appointed and comfortable, bathroom great. Lots of personal and lovely touches - like fresh flowers in every room and at breakfast. As soon as Shelby knows you are English - she brings a tray to your room with a kettle, cups and teabags!! 2 bottles of water left in each room. Room nice and dark to sleep and bed very comfortable and warm. Breakfast was lovely and easy and at a time to suit us. And most of all - we were made so welcome and also given lots of really helpful advice on house hunting in france which was the purpose of our visit.

Negative: Everything was great.

Summary: Couldn’t stay in a more beautifully decorated chateau, and made to feel so so welcome and at ease.

Positive: Relaxing and comfortable to be in, the château is beautifully decorated and furnished with living areas to wander through and enjoy. Set in peaceful, green countryside whilst not being far from Bourdeilles and Brantôme. Breakfast is to be looked forward to! Thank you, Shelby and Dominique for being so welcoming and making us feel at home. We hope to return....

Positive: We had a wonderful time at the Chateau de Gouyas. The hosts (Dom and Shelby) did everything to make us feel comfortable, and we enjoyed the interesting conversations we had with them and the other guests. The rooms are beautifully renovated, the breakfast is lavish, and a lot of attractive sights (Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, Perigueux, Brantome, Villars, etc.) are easy to reach. We also appreciated Dom's recommendation to have dinner in the nearby Moulin du Pont.

Positive: It had everything you could wish for clean comfortable friendly hosts who were fluent in French and English. Great knowledge of the area and restaurants. I like to use 4 pillows I was so surprised that there was extra pillows to cover my requirements in our bedroom. Then breakfast was perfect start to the day and pleased to see local fresh products being sourced.

Negative: Honestly there was nothing we didn't like was pleased no TV in bedroom so could and did enjoy the grounds.

Summary: felt like I was a French princess for a night.

Positive: After a very difficult week professionally, the universe decided that what we really needed was a night here. And how right it was. We loved our stay from the second we arrived. Shelby and Dom are as welcoming and full of bonhomie as the house is stylish and individual. We left floating on air perfectly equipped to deal with whatever life throws at us. Don’t hesitate to book - staying here is a pleasure and a privilege.
