Welcome to Cable Bay in the beautiful Doubtless Bay area. Here, you are surrounded by beautiful beaches, friendly people and many fabulous sights all on your doorstep!
Cable Bay is great for swimming and also has the “lagoon” to the left which is perfect for the little ones or the less confident swimmer. You can also enjoy snorkelling and explore the rock pools at low tide then sit on the beach with some delicious takeaways from the local dairy. Lots to see and do :)
The beautiful and historical Mangonui township is just a short 5 min drive away. Here you will find a hotel, a number of eateries, tourism shop and a 4 Square all for your convenience not to mention a wharf if you want to try your hand at a bit of fishing. A market is held on Tuesday evenings with local produce and crafts all on the offering.
Coopers Beach shopping centre boasting a 4 Square, butchery, pharmacy and diner is only a 3 min drive away. You will also find a liquor store, “Dollarland” and sports/fishing store conveniently located across from the 4 Square. If you wish to do a larger grocery shop, Kaitaia township is a 30min drive west where you will find a Pak’n’Save and many other amenities normally located in a larger township.
Just west over the hill you will find the small settlement of Taipa which boasts the Ramada Resort with restaurant, a gas station, convenience store, fish’n’chip shop, bakery, tavern etc not to mention a beautiful long sandy beach and a safe estuary for the littlies. Further west you will find the turnoff to Tokerau, Whatuwhiwhi and Matai Bay all within 25 mins drive and well worth a visit.

Summary: Very nice place, awesome view to the beach. The rooms had some toys and board games to entertain the kids. The place does not have A/C, but you only had to open up the sliding doors to get all the sea breeze. Marvelous stay, Thanks Tina!

Summary: Tina was wonderful to deal with. Great communication with fast replies back. The view was amazing and we just loved sitting out in the deck admiring the view across the bay. The property was exactly what we needed with lots of room and great facilities. We will definitely be back!!

Summary: What can I say other than this place was just awesome! As soon as we arrived the view just took our breath away. From then on we realised how well the house was set up. We had a family crew which included my infant son who recently turned two. All I can say is this house is sooooooooooo well set up for families and those with young children. I can’t stop but recommend them we had such a lovely stay!!! Finally I want to say how sweet and helpful the host Tina was, any query she was quick to respond and was such a gracious host. In summary stay here! Your guaranteed a great time ;)

Summary: This house was by far the best equipped than any we have stayed in. It had absolutely everything we could need and the extra supplies like tea, coffee, toilet paper etc were the icing on the cake. Great house, great location and Tina was very accommodating. Awesome place for our family Easter getaway. Will be back for sure.
