Summary: Overall I was disappointed. There were only 3 bedrooms and I had been expecting 4. The additional sleeping areas were on mezzanine floors. The downstairs shower was broken, ( no door and shower bracket broken) which meant that the only bathrooms were ensuite to one of the bedrooms and they both only had hand held shower attachments.There was however plenty of hot water.We had booked for 10 adults but the lack of privacy for those without a bedroom was a bit of an issue. The fridge was really not big enough for 10 people and there were no actual wine glasses. The house had lots of hi tech gadgets, (tv, music etc) but no instructions on how to use them. The WiFi was fast and reliable. There are 2 male goats who sleep in the doorway at night and smell very strongly. They also leave a lot of mess. The owners are aware of this as they provide a broom to sweep it away but it means the first person up had to sweep away the poo before being able to go outside. The odour also persists for a while so if you open the doors the smell comes into the house. It’s a shame that they can’t be penned overnight. The house has masses of potential, beautiful beams, high ceilings and a really peaceful position. The bedrooms were big with very comfortable beds Maybe it was just too rustic for us but I think the description could have been more explicit on some of these points. It would have been perfect for 6 adults.

Summary: 1st impressions were negative as the main chateau building is in the process of reconstruction. However, these thoughts were quickly dismissed when the owner showed us around the converted & modernised former coach house. So much 'wow' factor with plenty of space to enjoy the weekend we'd booked for. Being the weather was fantastic, we were able to use the outdoor space and BBQ to full effect. With the quality sound system and bluetooth setup really made a party atmosphere for us. Although a nice large space, the only critique I'd make of the area we had access to was that the lawned area was badly in need of a mow. Sounds crazy & picky to say this, but if we'd been there with kids, the overgrown lawn would not have been the best to let them run around & play. Instead, we sat at the table & had another drink!. The facilities included large dining table, well appointed kitchen including dishwasher, several bedrooms/ensuite and a games room with table football. We'd love to go again & the only thing extra we'd take would be dishwasher tablets, but without these did not spoil one of the best weekends we've ever had.

Summary: The owner met us and was lovely - doing a great job with the estate. Promptly answered our texts when we had a problem with the heating. We would have liked an oven and a toaster - but we are English! Everything else provided! In the first bedroom watch your belongings on the window seat if there's a violent rainstorm as they get wet! Got the impression we should have taken bed linen and towels but there were some provided - probably needs to state something on the website. Good Carrefour in Hesdin and some lovely walks around Humieres.
