Positive: The fact you are staying in an original schist house but with all the modern amenities. Loved the fireplace, didn’t think I’d use but weather turned so was perfect with a glass of local red supplied by the host. Also the staff at the village tavern and store were very helpful and friendly.

Summary: Authentic but modern amongst a beautiful village wit fantastic scenery.

Positive: Everything! The location was amazing! Just an adorable cabin in the middle of beautiful Talasnal. We absolutely loved the enclosed fireplace. We ate a good meal every night with the fire going. The hosts are fantastic and super responsive. We made the mistake of locking ourselves out one night, and Pedro and his wife were quick to help us resolve the issue. I can't recommend this place enough!

Positive: I love the building based on what seems like original Schist building designs with stone and small windows. This one is superbly set up with everything one could need, comfortable with pleasant furnishings and a full equipped kitchen. Pedro, the owner, whom I never met, constantly checked on me and anything I needed. His warm welcome, information and immense generosity went beyond the average home stay. And the quiet in the village and silence of the environment was too wonderful!

Negative: The toilet lid didn't stay up ....

Positive: A unique and serene, restored home in a house built of local shale hundreds of years ago. Surrounded by well-marked trails to waterfalls, other “Xisto” villages, etc., you can eat at a taverna with delicious food and wonderful staff or hike or drive up to Talasnal with groceries to cook your own meals. We took a train to Coimbra and a taxi to Talasnal. We’re over 70 and the hike up would have been too much, but we came with what we could carry on our backs and hiked down to village of Lousa and took a train back to Coimbra. Fantastic! Owner Pedro is VERY helpful and knows area well.

Negative: We want to go back again! We liked everything!
