Casa do Alto is a very large house (750m2) which is located in a 10,000 m² property which includes a large swimming pool (15 x 7.5 m) and 2 outdoor kitchens with barbecue. It is divided into 3 totally separate apartments.

Adaúfe is a small village but has all the necessary amenities (pharmacy, health center, analyst (blood, urine, etc.), ATM, gas station, hairdresser, supermarket, cafes, bakery, butcher, etc.). It also has 2 large shopping centers 5 km away, and Braga (3rd Portuguese city) is about 5 km from Casa do Alto. Porto International Airport is only 50 minutes away.
You will need a car to get around, but there is a frequent bus service to Braga and local taxis are also available. Casa do Alto has plenty of parking space.
Casa do Alto is an old renovated stone country house, on a farm, which is nestled in the hillside of the Cavado River Valley. This is not far from the campus of the University of Minho. It has exquisite views from all sides and part of the ancient Roman road to Braga is right at the back gate. The "eira" in stone (or patio where cereals dried) is one of the largest in the Minho region (484 m2) and many memorable events have taken place there.
Casa do Alto is he perfect place to stay as a base to visit this region of Portugal or just relax in the property itself (1 hectare) either in the garden or in the wooded area with oaks, cork oaks, sweet chestnuts among many other varieties of trees. There is so much to see around the Minho region and as Casa do Alto is almost in the center of this area, it is an ideal base for this part of the country. Braga (3rd largest city in Portugal), is the largest city near Casa do Alto (5 km), and is an exciting city with many historical sites to visit, such as the oldest cathedral in Portugal. An excellent local and international gastronomy can be enjoyed in the many restaurants available in and around Braga, with a wide range of exquisite wines of which Portugal is renowned.
There is also a "tourist triangle" consisting of the three famous sanctuaries of "Bom Jesus", "Sameiro" and "Stª Marta" which are worth a visit.

Summary: Had a marvellous seven days at Casa do Alto . Michael and Tania are fantastic hosts who can't do enough to help you enjoy your stay. From recommending restaurants to letting us know interesting places to visit. They even help us sort out a problem with our hire car. The apartment has lovely views over the valley and is situated in its own garden of Eden where everything is abundant . It is only a few minutes from Braga by car and around six euro's in an Uber! It also boasts a large swimming pool which has its own superb over the valley. Also fantastic showers and bathrooms , its a really luxurious , relaxing experience and would highly recommend

Summary: Beautiful apartment in a stone house with stunning view over the valley. Very spacious. Perfect for two couples or a family. Good as a destination or a base for other day trips. Communications with hosts was very good and the food supplies they provided for our first day was very much appreciated. The pool was very large and very refreshing after a day of touring.

Summary: The house is high up in the mountains over steep streets. The Caso do Alto on Google Maps slightly deviates from the actual entrance. Use the coordinates given by the owner instead. You arrive at a gate which the owners will open for you. We were warmly greeted by Tania, and her family, and the dog (which they kept on a leash during our stay). The upper apartment, which is next to the owners, has wonderful views from the small balcony. The rooms are very spacious, and they are all airconditioned (although we hardly used it due to the cool breeze in the evenings). The pool is very large, and open to the owners and the renters of the second apartment. It is some stairs away from the apartment. We had a wonderful bbq at the poolside. In conclusion, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely stay here again.

Summary: Seriously this place is nothing but amazing. The hosts were so kind, friendly and always willing to provide any advice we needed. The apartment itself has a fantastic location. You are close enough to braga if you need anything but you truly get a country experience. The place had everything we needed plus more. It was roomy and spacious. The pool was a great way to cool off and spend some time. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Summary: Great place to unwind. Large pool with BBQ, plenty of pool loungers etc. Slight walk to the pool area, but well lit at night. The owners were lovely and very helpful; very knowledgable about what’s going on in the locality. The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped. Great place to chill out.

Summary: The house was fantastic. Super luxury and had absolutely anything we needed. We were 3 families sharing 2 floors. We have arrived in the afternoon and they have offered a lunch that was prepared for us, great surprise! House is authentic and beautiful, with all the amenities that you wish for. Our kid and us enjoyed big pool with amazing views . It’s one of the bay places we have stayed in!

Summary: Lovely apartment with gorgeous views, huge bedrooms and a comfortable living and dining area. Close to many towns, historic sites, restaurants and shopping. We had a wonderful stay , enjoyed all the amenities such as barbecues and a large pool. Our hosts Mario and Peggy ensured we saw all the sights, helped us with information on all things Portuguese. Would loved to have stayed longer. Would highly recommend !

Summary: Enjoyed a lovely 5 night stay at Casa do Alto during our travels through Portugal. We stayed with our two kids, who loved being able to walk the cobblestone paths and roam the orchard. We had stayed in downtown Braga also but we were ready for the peace and quiet of the countryside. This rental is still very close to the city and all it’s amenities, but offers beautiful scenery and places to walk or hike right from the house, including a 2,000 Roman road. The apartment was just lovely, as well as the hosts. Very accommodating, and offered us some great suggestions for things to do the area. Highly recommend this place.
