Positive: Everything was just perfect - the cottage is equiped with everything you might need or even more. It’s surounded by the wonderful garden, full of fruit trees which you can smell everywhere ☺️ The pool is just next to it, you can jump into the cooling water or just relax looking at the Douro river view. We enjoyed it a lot! You can also get canoes to the river - it’s very safe - the water is very calm and you can use life vests which are provided. We tried it and we had a very nice experience. The cherry on the top are the owners. Although we could not meet Maria Eugenia in person, we were greatly hosted by her daughter and her husband. They were so kind, friendly and never overbearing - they made our stay even more pleasant 🥰 We could not imagine a better relax than in Casa de Gondomil ❤️ Thank you 🙏

Positive: The perfect escape from routine. Sheltered between the woods and the river you will completely forget about your busy life and be immersed in the slow pace of the Portuguese countryside. Ideal for contemplating the boats slowly drive by. The property is quite estense, we weren't sure where it starts or ends, as the house is completely surrounded by the woods and gardens.there are different nooks and spaces within the property to explore, walk through, swim, sit and contemplate. The house has been renovated very beautifully with an ample and sunny deck and all the necessary amenities. Each window offers a unique view onto the landscape, making them memorable and picturesque. Waking up to chirping birds, sunny views and friendly cats will be forever in our memories.

Negative: The region in general is very steep, and so is the access to the property, which can be intimidating to anyone who is not used to it. The access road contributes to the remote feeling of the property.
