Positive: Authentic house, rustic but very functional. Bread,jams, cheese, etc really appreciated. Responsive and friendly hosts. Cute town and you couldn't be closer to the center (without hearing anything extraneous)

Negative: We are probably particular in our preference for a softer bed, so we found the bed a bit challenging. And the weather on our last day was awful - just teasing, not anything else with the property! Really enjoyed this space and place.

Positive: Location. Spacious

Negative: Advertised as 3 bedroom and I booked a 3 bedroom and only had one bedroom. Doorways everywhere low so keep hitting head. No contact from host. I emailed several times and rang about 5-6 times with no answer. Address did not come up on google maps. Had to ask the tourist centre where the apartment was. When we were out the front a bloke appeared who could not speak English. He asked another local to interpret. All we were told was there was breakfast in fridge and leave the key on the stairs. Bad service all round. No wine glasses. No bread knife and given half a loaf of bread for breakfast. There are a lot more other nicer places around

Positive: This beautifully decorated and historic house is right in the heart of one of our favorite villages in Portugal (Sortelha). The back patio overlooks the castle ruins and it's an easy walk to a nearby restaurant and tavern (Cardo). A very ample breakfast was provided with fresh bread each morning.

Summary: An ancient stone house in an ancient stone village - we loved it.

Negative: The place was described as a three bedroom home. It was a small studio home. Luckily it was only the two of us and not all our family.

Positive: Lovely original cottage in the heart of Sortelha overlooking the castle. Do not expect new renovated modern. It is a pleasant step back to comfortable simple living. Loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the view. Loved the breakfast provided. Simple but completely adequate. Would highly recommend.

Positive: The scenery is awesome, the village is a medieval castle surrounded by buildings from this epoch. Wow! It's perfect for those who want to have a time out or being a couple and enjoy a romantic time together. I also had no problems with my phone: good network and wifi in the house - also open wifi hotspot outside. Hint: when your car is not that wide you pass the main gate and drive through the narrow main street up to the marketplace. There are public toilets, an ATM and the sign "Sortelha Artesanato". There you call the hosts. After 5-10min they come and show you your place.

Negative: Maybe a crowded place during holidays. I was there at shoulder season and still saw a couple of tourists. Hosts were very friendly. However, they do not answer via booking.com chat. You have to call them via phone. Expect no english - my host offered me portuguese, spanish or french. So I offered them german or english > we used body language and also

Summary: Wonderful, sleep at a medieval village
