Positive: Casa da Avó is a fully equipped apartment with a large terrace in the old town of Vila do Porto. The shops, restaurants, and harbor are all within walking distance. Maria Helena (the owner) welcomed us personally and was friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with.

Negative: The apartment is situated on the main street with cobblestones, which can be a bit noisy at times. The Wi-Fi is slow.

Positive: Fabulous home in a wonderful location, easy walking to restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and excellent off street parking. Good cross flow ventilation to mitigate the warm humid weather in August. Good cooking facilities, including a charcoal BBQ on a large furnished terrace. Very comfortable bed and living room furniture. Greatly appreciated the washing machine, and outside clothes line. We were pleasantly surprised how spectacularly beautiful Santa Maria Island was, and how warm the water was for swimming.

Negative: Nothing.

Summary: Excellent accommodation option on lovely Santa Maria Island.
