Positive: Wow...words can't describe how wonderful this place is! Spectacular location by the castle! Super nice hosts! Great breakfast! Room was spotless and very comfortable. Positive: It is a very special place. Beautiful home-like feel, sort of country charm, with a really cozy shared living room to relax in and the incredible shared balcony, see for miles and watch the sunset. The owners are the sweetest most helpful people.

Positive: Charming guesthouse with stunning views at the top of the hill. Joaquim was a warm and welcoming host, and his wife prepared a wonderful breakfast for us (try the tomato jam!). Everything was clean and comfortable, and we had a terrific stay there. The guesthouse was close to the castle, and Joaquim provided us with a map and helpful recommendations. Would love to come back and stay as Casa da Arvore again!

Positive: The scenery from the shared balcony was truly breathtaking. There are a few restaurants in the village, but we heard they were fully booked, so we brought food from the town below just in case. The owner was very kind and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful, with warm eggs, toasted bread, and his wife’s homemade jam — it was absolutely delicious.

Positive: Immaculate and comfortable room in a gorgeous guest house. The living room is available to everyone and the veranda looks over the valley. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Portugal and the hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They made our stay in Marvao special. Obrigada.

Positive: Very kind owners. Good breakfast. Nice ambiente in the middle of the village. Parking in front of the hotel. Quiet in the night.

Negative: The weather could have been better. The village is on top of the hill and in early spring it could be fresh. However the hotel was very warm ;-)

Positive: The couple who manage the house are two of the kindest people I have ever met. The view from the dining and living area is breathtaking. The made to order breakfast was fantastic. My room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and very quiet and comfortable. The living and dining area have exquisite Portuguese antique ceramics on display. Everything about this place, especially the hosts, was truly special. I highly recommend the Casa da Avore to anyone staying in Marvou.
