Positive: Location is superb. There really was no breakfast - just 2 packets of dry biscuits - this IS NOT breakfast. Whilst owner did not prepare the apartment as requested he did fix this very quickly so this was good.

Negative: Breakfast as above. Fridge was old and rickety and not very clean. All of the cups, saucers etc were dirty and needed to be washed before use. Sofa bed is old and very uncomfortable. Owner sent info on local tax very late in evening and so we did not receive it until we had left in the morning because we had an early ferry to catch. We had lots of communication with him in the day but he did not mention anything. Now he expects us to find an Italian Poste office to transfer him 5 euro's. I have asked for bank details because we are already out of the country - but no answer.

Positive: I arrived by train and it was a quick 15 min walk straight to the apartment. The location is absolutely right off Piazza Duomo and everything Messina has to offer. Easy to check in via WhatsApp and lockbox, bed was comfortable, apartment spacious, coffee, fridge, kitchen area, some water provided. Shower was great. Wi-Fi working perfectly. No steps, apartment is on ground level. Pasquale is an informative, kind and gracious host. He offered me important information so I could really learn about his city, and I tried my first granita di caffe, panna and brioche at Bar Eden because of him. If you are a light sleeper like myself I used earplugs and slept soundly. Messina is also a University town so young people are out enjoying life late. Messina port is close by and I was able to walk easily to see the cities attractions.

Positive: The location of the apartment is amazing, truly right in the center and in walking distance of everything you want to visit in Messina. The apartments bed was very comfortable and I liked that there were extra pillows available in the closet. Moreover, the air conditioner and WiFi worked well which made our stay very pleasant. The other facilities were also good. Additionally, Pasquale was an amazing host, he was always available for questions and gave us some great tips on what to visit.

Negative: The hot water can run out if you use too much at once, if you take short showers this will not be a problem.

Summary: We had a very nice time in Messina due to the great location and facilities of the apartment.
