Positive: We booked a suite with a huge terrace, with an absolutely incredible view, and with a private hot tub, and although it was very pricey, especially for the off-season, we thought it was worth it. Our view was stunning and visiting in a cooler month like November, it was really nice to get in the hot tub after a day of sightseeing or after dinner. The room had everything we needed, though it was a little smaller than I expected. It was very clean though. And breakfast was amazing! That was definitely a highlight as well. We got made to order items like omelettes every day plus coffee drinks, and then the buffet options were really nice and fresh too. They also provided gluten-free options for me like breads and muffins. It’s a beautiful property and I really enjoyed the artwork in the common areas.

Negative: I thought the mattress was fairly hard and overall not that comfortable. I prefer memory foam or something softer, and I think for the price they could upgrade the mattresses.

Summary: Our terrace and private hot tub made it worth the price!

Positive: We fell in love with Casa Balthazar for it's very human, personal atmosphere - something you rarely find in big chain hotels. A big part of that feeling came from Yuran, the kind and helpful young man at the reception. Always smiling, attentive and ready to assist, he made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived to the evening before our early departure. We felt truly cared for. Beautifully served breakfast was delicious and generous, there is always a coffee and tea and a cake that you cannot resist available in a common area near reception. Our room was tastefully decorated and the bedding and linens were impeccable. It felt like staying in someone's beautiful home than a hotel. We were sad to leave. Thank you, dear Casa Balthazar!

Positive: The location was fantastic. In Chiado, in a bustling area with lots to see and do, and in the heart of Lisbon, but felt very relaxed. The staff were all really friendly and professional. Breakfast was delicious. The spa and pool were lovely but the hot tub with views over the city and castle was the real showstopper. (We were in Jacuzzi room 3) I really can't speak highly enough of the place! It looked perfect online but the reality was so much better
