Positive: We are glad to have picked this wonderful place for our trip through Spain. The location is just perfect and lets you relax away from the hectic of the tourist centers. During our stay, we went for early-morning walks with amazing views over the valley, enjoyed local restaurants in the nearby towns and most of all had a great time at Casa Algezar, chilling in and around the pool with stunning views to the surrounding mountains everywhere you look. At the same time, it is just a short car ride to the coast for a day at the beach, renting a boat, or the like. There is so much great food in Spain, but the best and most unforgettable dinner we had at Casa Algezar, enjoying local vegetables and Iberian meat on a wood-fired grill in a great atmosphere with other guests. Likewise, have an excellent breakfast in the beautiful scenery of Casa Algezar has just been a great start to our days. Our hosts, Goedele and Stein, have been so nice and helpful, with great suggestions for trips, making dinner reservations, organizing boat rental, etc. They genuinely care about their guests and the environment in which they have built this wonderful place. Casa Algezar has been a true gem on our vacation, and we’ll definitely come back, next time in Spain.

Positive: Casa Algezar is right on the GR330 long distance path - perfect for a long distance “through hiker” like me. The hosts were super friendly and flexible with my wife who acts as my support. She dropped off my overnight bag and collected it the next day which was not a problem. Evening drinks and communal meal with the hosts, their son and another guest couple was very nice and the food great. Breakfast was filling (very important for me!), had a wide choice (including homemade granola and eggs to order) and was delicious. Room was great. Thanks for being super friendly.

Negative: Possibly, in line with the eco approach, the toiletries were sachet based and whilst good, didn’t appear to reflect the price of an overnight stay. While I understand bottled water in the room is not appropriate for an eco establishment, it could have been made clearer if the tap water was drinkable (it apparently was!).

Summary: Luxury (a very rare treat) on the long distance trail…
