Positive: Great stay with a super nice and helpful host! He advised us on options with our onward shuttle and booked it for us. Very close to the airport and he picked us up for $15 for a very swift transfer. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a convenient overnight stay near the airport. Very nice breakfast too
Summary: Very convenient for airport and super nice host

Positive: The location, great value, awesome hosts, clean, and beautiful property! Breakfast option, minutes walking to nearby restaurants/etc. Maggie, Cookie & Kala are the sweetest dogs.
Negative: It was a little warm during the day without AC, by night it cooled off. The breezes and fans help.
Summary: Excellent stay at Cariari B&B

Positive: By far the best breakfast that we had in Costa Rica. Very generous and very tasty. Lovely, clean room. There are no keys to the room so it's like staying in someone's home. Helpful, friendly hosts who recommended where to eat when we arrived. There was a good selection of restaurants within a ten minute walk. It felt like a safe area. We really appreciated the wine and beer when we arrived sorry a long journey! Really close to the airport. Thank you for the generous gift of the vintage bird book for my husband 🩷
Negative: Nothing of note.

Positive: The house is beautiful. I liked the upstairs patio area and the quiet neighbourhood. The breakfast was nice and Miriam was really lovely and helpful. I met with the family the first night and was greeted kindly and offered a cold drink. That was very nice to have after a full days bus ride across the country. The room was overall comfortable enough.
Negative: I had higher expectations after reading the reviews. I hadn't realized that they were selling and moving at the end of the month, and so things felt a bit in disarray. My room felt empty, there were only screws in the walls where art used to hang. Laurie seemed as lovely as the reviews but she ended up being quite busy when I arrived and so we only got to exchange a few words before she took my payment. I believe I was overcharged by 15USD and, to my fault for not checking my online reservation, I didn't say anything until I realized after the fact. It was very expensive for a place that is currently in transition (moving). I understand it is an old house and this is part of the charm, but the bathroom felt very outdated and the sinks really smelled so I had to keep the door shut when not using it. The bed felt like an old spring bed and everything felt clean but it wasn't the most comfortable sleep for $189CAD. I had just come from a Parrot rescue where the birds had better breakfasts than I usually do, and seeing their Amazon parrot under the stairs left my heart aching. I was expecting to pay myself a bit of luxury for my last night in CR and left feeling a bit disappointed.
Summary: Not the luxury I was expecting
