Summary: Lovely looking Hotel, very much looks like a grand country house from the front and in some beautiful grounds. The positives are: *plenty of parking available *lovely large room, altho it feels dated, we felt it’s in keeping with the age of the property *staff are lovely and friendly *restaurant evening meal was superb, was bit pricy but the quality was excellent AND it was air conditioned Now for the not so positives: *could really benefit from a fridge and a fan In the rooms, we arrived during the heatwave and the room was so unbearably stifling. Managed to get a fan after going to reception but it was a fan in name only! Was absolutely no use to man nor beast! Was the tiniest desk fan and had no oomph at all. Not good for trying to get a little breeze to get a nights sleep!! *Bathroom was very dated and due to it being a wheelchair accessible the sink was very low as was the mirror on the wall, so hubby had to almost bend in half in order to have a shave to be able to see in he mirror. The shower is over the bath and was a very dated shower head, although the pressure was fine, it was hard to maintain he temp via the taps. * Breakfast was a let down! We were expecting great things after the excellent meal the evening before, and we got down to breakfast 15 mins after the start and the bacon & mushrooms were dry and hard! Sausages looked good but tasted of high cereal and not much actual meat. Overall a pleasant stay but if coming in a heatwave would bring my own fan

Summary: Waterproof mattress protectors on beds made the nights uncomfortable. Quite a lot of dust in the room. Housekeeping on request only. Restaurant choice and quality poor. My main bugbear was the music in the restaurant. It's not something everyone enjoys, especially at the high volume. When I asked for it to be turned down I was told it's for the "ambience".

Summary: Our executive double room was extremely clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and professional. Our evening meal was delicious and good value. We particularly liked the gardens and ate on the terrace. The bathroom was a little "tired" but was spotlessly clean. Amazing value at £64 for the room per night. Thank you for a very pleasant stay

Summary: Lovely time spent here. Quiet and peaceful which was preferable to hustle and bustle of York City centre. 13 mins to Rawcliffe Park & Ride and then 10 min bus ride into City centre. I thought restaurant was a little pricey, £20 for Fish & Chips but the fish was massive and was excellent. Lovely pizzas for around £15. We were going to eat in York second night but decided to eat again at the restaurant because it was so good the previous night. Lovely area outside to enjoy a drink. Staff were terrific, plenty of parking. Would definitely visit again.
