Positive: This was a wonderful and authentic stay. The hotel host is lovely and his son Mark Anthony the best guide. Mark Anthony’s wife is an amazing cook and all in all this was a wonderful stay that we will remember always! My daughter and I planted a tree on the grounds and we loved our stay so much. Valentino the boatman was super skilled and Mark Anthony is very knowledgable and lots of fun. They will all hold a special place in our hearts.

Positive: Amazing location set further out than the other lodges so you're very much the only boat a lot of the time. The staff are amazing and extremely welcoming and accommodating. The food is delicious and plentiful. The lodge was exactly what we were looking for with its surroundings and wildlife, supported by our brillirant guide
Negative: Beds weren't the comfiest along with the pillows but I think we're just used to these being softer. Please don't come here expecting a luxury resort as this is very much about being amongst nature and its wildlife. Apart from that everything was spot on

Positive: Food was excellent. Staff were all great and welcoming. Rooms were very comfortable. We were not expecting air con in the room but it was much appreciated. Camp was in good location.
Negative: There was some clearing of the forest happening while we were staying to build a new cabin, and the sound of chainsaws and diggers really ruined sounds of nature we wanted to experience. The clearance also meant we were not able to go on jungle walks. We did a village tour which was a 10 min walk around the town at the jetty which I don’t think was worth the cost or very informative of life of someone living in the area. I wish we were told about the clearing beforehand so we could’ve found somewhere else to stay and have a better experience of the jungle.
Summary: We were very happy with the staff, food and room. Unhappy about the tours and forest clearing happening.

Positive: Seeing the big 5 animals. Staff & location were excellent. Boat trips were great, great guide and driver. Highlight was seeing an elephant swim across the river right in front of the boat.
Negative: For the prices they charge, the lodge really needs to improve the room quality. Very hard bed and pillows (especially) and the lack of aircon made it difficult to sleep - don’t believe the reviews that say you don’t need air conditioning!

Positive: I thought the location was beautiful- lots of wildlife right around the property. The staff members were wonderful and very helpful with identifying animals. Large rooms. The buffet dinner was excellent, but beware, some lunch items ran out before we could get to them, and they didn’t replenish it for us :/ We only had side dishes. We also appreciated that transfer was included to / from the airport or Sepilok.
Negative: Our room didn’t have AC (not a surprise) and there was not enough ventilation or strong enough fans (get an AC room if possible- our mistake!). There were also many geckos in the room, a hole in the floor and a very old bathroom. As far as the boat cruises, the staff was great, but they didn’t take us down any narrow waterways where people see pigmy elephants- we just stuck to the main ones. We were only there for 2 cruises- so perhaps they will take different on other days? Also a tip: sit near the front of the boat if you’re sensitive to the smell of gas. No night walks available, just cruises. Still happy we went, though! :)

Positive: Our stay at this lodge was simply exceptional! We had the chance to see the Big Five and so much more. Being so close to nature was an unforgettable experience — we went boating on the river, explored the forest, and spotted elephants, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, rhinoceros hornbills, and even crocodiles. The guides were not only extremely knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and caring. A special thanks to our guide Marc, who revealed to us all the hidden secrets of the forest. I can’t recommend this lodge and the surrounding activities highly enough — a truly magical and enriching adventure!

Positive: The experience of being in the jungle and searching animals by boat is unique, but it's so in grand part because of Marc, our guide; he is funny, helpful and knowledgeable. The rest of the staff is also very kind and the food was very good too.
Negative: The room was simple and ok, but the bathroom had a very terrible smell and the window was locked, the admin should look for this as it made it difficult to go in there :(

Positive: We liked that we had a fixed tour guide for during our stay, that we got picked up and dropped up from Sandakan and that we could see many animals. The food was also good.
Negative: The facilities were quite basic, we didn’t have hot water, and it was quite uncomfortable without air conditioning. We didn’t realise some tours were extra and you can only pay with cash, for instance to go and see the elephants, we did the tour but found it a bit expensive (400 ringgit per person for only 2 hours tour extra). But overall the experience was quite fun for two nights as we saw many animals.
