Negative: The bed in the master room was not good quality as you would normally expect. But we still enjoyed our stay very much

Positive: It was peaceful, well presented, well equipped, lovely decor , spacious and relaxing environment, luxurious and great location , loved the hot tub and privacy shield separating the property. The security gates and the Sean bean sound alike were great and fun to experience. The kitchen had everything you could need , we loved the option of having extra guests , the blackout blinds were a great touch.

Negative: The main area smelled of the indoor log burner and this appeared to be the main way to heat the property other than electric heaters in bathroom and bedroom. I think the log burner should be an option in addition to mains heating if your preference is to avoid the smell. If you didn’t want to use the log burner, I can imagine it might be quite cold in winter.

Positive: Lovely cosy cottage with log burner which was ideal for a winter weekend break. Bus stop right outside and only 20 mins outside of central Durham. It was clean, modern and spacious and the host was on hand to help us with any questions we had. Would definitely stay again.

Negative: The hot tub was really spacious with great views though it could have done with being a touch warmer.

Positive: Really nice place close to Durham city centre. It was super clean and spacious enough for a group of 4. The host was friendly too, parking was secure and the hot tub and dressing gowns were a great addition!

Negative: The hot tub is positioned in a way so that when you take the lid off, the entire view of the lovely fields is blocked whilst in the tub. This was a shame as we had amazing weather and couldn’t watch the sunrise/sunset whilst in the hot tub. If it was moved away from the wall a bit and rotated this wouldn’t be an issue. Seems a shame to miss the view as it’s lovely The WiFi was really slow and basically unusable. The signal isn’t good either so couldn’t use our devices and the smart apps didn’t work on the TV due to wifi buffering. The bed in the larger room felt cheap and every time we turned over there were loud squeaking noses. Mattress wasn’t very supportive either so this could be improved. The kitchen could be stocked with essentials better. There were missing utensils and no hand soap next to the sink or sponges to clean with. These aren’t things you’d expect to bring on a getaway to a house. I’ve stayed at many houses/cottages/lodges and 90% of the time have received a welcome basket with eggs, bread, milk etc on arrival. Unfortunately we didn’t get this at Bolton farm and it would be a really welcomed addition If these things were addressed this would be a 10/10 fantastic place to stay in the north east. Still really enjoyed our time though.

Negative: No heater in living / kitchen area, apart from woodburner. It really needs a wall heater there, sorry!
