Positive: The location was decent although not as advertised when originally booking. The description makes it seem as though this house is located on the bayside of the island when it is actually located in Eastpoint and we didn’t Know this until after booking when details were sent to us that specifically said this house was located in Eastpoint at which point we had already reserved the home. The view is still very nice and we were able to see dolphins swimming most mornings. Although we didn’t enjoy driving over to the island every time we wanted to pack our kids up for the beach. This home was decent enough that we did extend our stay for more vacation time. However, we would not bring our family back to this particular home in the future.

Negative: 1. Upon arrival, the house was clearly not as clean as you would expect for a vacation home. There were obvious cobwebs with bugs on them throughout the home. Furniture and curtains seemed dusty and the floor was still pretty covered with dirt as our feet were very heavily coated prior to even unpacking. The water does smell, but unfortunately this is common in eastpoint in general so we looked past that. We had to pre-wash all of our dishes, utensils, and pots/pans due to them obviously not being cleaned in a while. 2. There was a window in the kitchen that was rigged closed with a butter knife. We had someone from Vacasa maintenance come out to inspect the window and they removed the knife and assured us that though the window was broken, it would not open further. However, upon our own inspection, the window was obviously very easy to open all the way and would not close to securely lock it. While it didn’t appear this window could be accessed from the outside due to the height, we had our newborn and toddler with us and did not appreciate paying to stay somewhere that a large window would not close or lock. We had to re-rig the window ourselves to ensure it was closed for our family. 3. The photos online do not look like the actual house. The furniture is not the same and the house isn’t slightly set up as nicely as the photos. If you’re looking for a “cute” vacation home to stay in this is not it. If you don’t care about the style of the home, you won’t mind this place. The lack of decoration and such didn’t really bother us as we weren’t there much anyway. 4. There was a broken cabinet door under the sink. Not a huge deal, but when paying for a vacation property you expect things to be well attended to and this property didn’t seem as such. 5. It’s sad to see some reviews from two years ago that listed some of the same issues that clearly still haven’t been addressed.

Positive: The view was gorgeous and so was the house. It was very clean also.

Negative: We had booked extra nights to stay and my bank account wouldn't go through due to forgetting to tell them I was on vacation and instead of calling, law enforcement showed up. The owner was with them and told us we had to leave. We offered cash and owner didn't have a problem but the office gave us a very hard time. We did end up staying but had to visit the hospital twice due to sand fleas that caused my foot to swell with blisters on them and arms. It's been over a month and have scars that looks like I had chicken pox and still trying to heal other places. It cost me more in medical than the trip. I was disappointed that they didn't notify us instead of several law enforcement. I have always tried to notify someone first. Very humiliating and a painful experience. The flies also about eat us up.

Positive: The house is awesome. Great view, comfy beds and nice kitchen.

Negative: The well water will gag you it smells so bad. Someone taking a shower will make the whole house smell like boiled eggs!

Negative: We had difficulty accessing the house. Maintenance had to come out and open the property. The water had a terrible sulphuric smell. The property had dirty / worn out furniture. Musty smells. There was mold on the ceilings. The kitchen was not property stocked. The steps to the house were rotten in areas and were dangerous. The yard and outside area had not been mowed or maintained. It was an extreme disappointment. Not at all what your advertising led us to believe.

Negative: The walls and air vents were very dusty. AC filter needs to be changed. No wine opener. Simple things that can be fixed quickly. The master bedroom needs batteries for the TV remote.

Positive: The view of the bay and proximity to beaches and Apalachicola, a charming historic town. Very pleasing accommodations Good bedroom/bathroom arrangements, nice deck, good cooking equipment in kitchen and gas grill.

Negative: The queen sized bed has a 5” memory foam mattress: not enough support. Needs to be switched to a firm mattress. I could only sleep in one position. Also, the window above the queen sized bed leaks a lot of air around the frame. We actually felt a breeze coming thru on windy nights, and was very cold on 40’ nights.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the “forgotten coast”.
