Located in Canaan, NY, less than a mile from the Massachusetts border, this is the 900 sq ft studio wing of a 1700s farmhouse that has recently undergone total restoration. Knoll Rock Studio offers a large living area and large bedroom with all comforts and amenities. Set on four tranquil acres, and close to Tanglewood and all the cultural and leisure activities the Berkshires and Hudson Valley region has to offer, this is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway or memorable vacation.
The two-level studio wing consists of a large open living area, large bedroom with king size bed, full kitchen with cook top, convection/microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and wine cooler, etc. The two beautiful bathrooms are all fully tiled, with glass vanities and euro-style full-body power showers. The beautiful trails on this property, and the owners’ adjoining land, offer country strolls and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during winter season. With beach passes for idyllic Queechy Lake, swimming and kayaking are only five minutes away. Bikers can enjoy cycling the dirt roads near the house or on the many trails in the region. Spend warm summer evenings grilling and dining out on the patio. Easy accessibility via nearby Route 22 and I90. New York City is approximately two and a half hours and Boston two hours. The studio wing can also be rented combined with the full property (total of four bedrooms, two living areas, four bathrooms, two kitchens), which is ideal for two families to share while maintaining privacy.
Guests have full access to the complete Studio Wing. Bikes, kayaks, paddleboards and snowshoes, according to the season, are available by arrangement with the hosts. Seasonal passes for the lovely private beach at Queechy Lake, just a few minutes away, allow for summer swimming. A selection of wonderful games, books and movies are available to guests. There are two large screen Roku TVs offering streaming Netflix, HBO, Showtime and other popular entertainment and news channels. With a cell tower less than a mile away, phone and data service is normally very good. We maintain trails on both our properties (12 acres total), offering country strolls and mountain biking, or XC skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Our neighboring network of dirt roads also offers biking and hiking opportunities. Close to all the wonderful places of interest and cultural activities of the Berkshires and Hudson Valley. A short drive from Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Co, Kripalu, The Mount, Hancock Shaker Village, Jiminy Peak, Catamount, Bousquet, etc.

Summary: Really enjoyed our stay at Knoll Rock! The place was just renovated, extremely clean and Mai and Terry were great hosts (fresh croissants with butter on arrival and very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and attractions). Definitely a unique space with modern finishes while maintaining a rustic farmhouse vibe. Location is convenient to the surrounding area and due to the orientation of the space, it feels very private despite there being other houses nearby. There was almost no traffic on the dirt road on which it's located either which was nice. Trails on the property are not extensive but good for a leisurely and private stroll.
