Positive: Margaret welcomed us at the door and ensured that we had a wonderful time at her B&B. The facilities were very clean and our room was good. We were very happy just to have a continental type breakfast, although other options were there, after having had lots of full Irish breakfasts. Her recommendation of the tavern for our evening meal was appreciated. It is only a short walk down to the beach and there are great views from the front terrace over the coast. There are cute sheep everywhere. You would certainly need to have a car to access this property. This place certainly gets a tick of approval from us.

Negative: Just be aware that it is not located in Westport but in a surrounding village.

Positive: My friend and I stayed at Bertra House for our Croagh Patrick hike, and it was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we felt so at home thanks to Margareth and John John’s exceptional hospitality. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable and safe, even offering us rides to and from Croagh Patrick when the weather turned rainy. Their thoughtfulness didn’t stop there; they even dried our clothes after the hike! The location is perfect—just a five-minute walk to the beach and a quick ten-minute drive to the starting point of the hike. Bertra House itself is charming, cozy, and incredibly clean. It’s easily one of the safest and most welcoming places we’ve ever stayed, and we’re already looking forward to seeing Margareth and John John again next year! Highly recommended for anyone planning to explore the area.

Positive: This was a wonderful experience! Our host Margaret was amazing, it was such an incredibly welcoming environment. The room itself was cosy, clean and comfortable. One of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time - and our breakfast was wonderful! Huge thanks to Margaret for welcoming us so warmly and making our stay so great. I will be back! Highly recommend.
