5 Bedroom House in Oden

Crooked Lake is a part of the famous Inland Water Route - a route of beautiful lakes and rivers connecting the Great Lakes. It is spring fed, has a sandy bottom and crystal clear water. There are marinas to rent boats and water toys, good fishing and a big sandbar famous among the locals as the great place to play. There are great skiing options for winter travelers as well.
Our cottage is in Oden, MI. It has a swimming area shallow enough for children yet deep enough at the end of our dock for just about any size boat. The dock is solid, steady, and has a large area on the end for playing, docking a boat and sunbathing. Beach towels are provided.
On the main floor is a clean, well-kept, open floor plan and a master suite. The living room houses a wood burning fireplace, game table (games & puzzles provided), and comfortable seating.
The kitchen is fully outfitted, stocked with good flatware, cutlery and cookware - including the extra cooking tools and serving pieces you’ll need for large family meals at the dining room table. The main level front porch has a table for eating and relaxing, and two of the second floor bedrooms have access to the veranda.
The beds are clad in 600+ thread count linens that are replaced each season. Each bedroom has an air conditioner, but up north, you’ll seldom need them.
A discreet housecleaning service will make a midweek visit for clean up. A laundry room right off the kitchen with an extra large washer and dryer is available to use.
With so much to do, you'll be tempted to stay put. But limitless opportunities await you outdoors. The cottage resides in Oden, and neighboring Petoskey and Harbor Springs are home to a variety of shopping, dining and recreation activities. High-demand destinations like Charlevoix, Mackinac Island and Bay Harbor are also not far. You are within minutes of some of the area’s several world-class golf courses, great fly-fishing locations, and beautiful ski slopes.
The cottage is right next to the new 60 mile rails-to-trails path that runs between Charlevoix and Mackinaw City - perfect for bikers, runners and hikers. And right outside the front door is Oden's famous lakefront lighted walkway.

Summary: Very nice older home that has been restored very well. Nice dock onto the lake-shallow for swimming, but need to rent a boat to move more onto the lake to fish.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay very much. House was well stocked with supplies & the kitchen dishes & pans were excellent. Towels & linens were top notch. It was a perfect house for our family of 12. Host was great at responding in a timely manner. We rented a pontoon boat & jet skis from the local marina. Our only complaint is how close Highway 31 is to the house. It was noisy & with small children, it was a worry.

Summary: This house has everything! Three bedrooms for the grownups plus a bunk room and a twin bed room for the kids. Three bathrooms, including the master bath which is updated and lovely. Great laundry and kitchen appointments. The lake is wonderful - around 3-4 feet deep until way beyond the end of the dock. Friendly neighbors. We loved it.

Summary: Beautiful cottage and what we needed. The lake side of the house is beautiful. It is very close to Hwy 31 as advertised. The traffic noise was more than we anticipated. Compared to other VRBO places we've stayed, there was less comfort things like paper products, dishwasher detergent, no salt or pepper. None of these are huge items, but we did have to go to a store to get them. Positives: Great responsiveness from the owner to take care of a window air conditioner that went bad. He was willing to help with any issues.. Also, a big plus for the mid-week towel change and cleaning. That doesn't happen often. Over all, we had a great week at this Crooked Lake Cottage. .

Summary: We have stayed at this Crooked Lake Cottage several times. It never disappoints. The lake is fantastic for swimming, tubing, sailing, wave running, etc. Plus, the inland waterway offers some of the best boating in the country. And being so close to Petoskey and Harbor Springs is a huge benefit; they both have great dining and shopping. The cottage is a real gem and a great summer vacation destination! We will be back!!

Summary: This house was great for a large family to vacation together. There is enough space for everyone. The kitchen is well stocked for large groups and the 2 refrigerators are a huge plus. We loved being right on the water and being able to use the dock for our boat.
