Positive: We very much enjoyed our stay at the Batad Simon's Viewpoint Inn and Pizza Restaurant. The staff was great, warm hospitality, and the manager would do whatever necessary to make our stay enjoyable. The view from the deck was out of the world. Batad is a Unesco World Heritage Site and Simon's looks right over the rice fields. It's definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience such a historic part of the Cordillera Mountain Range. The food was great as well - both breakfast and dinner.
Negative: There was nothing at all that we didn't like about our experience. The one thing that people need to realize is that you're in pretty much the middle of nowhere and there are a few concessions that need to be taken into account before heading to Batad. 1. You are not able to drive to the Village of Batad. You will need to walk about half an hour to make it to the centre. That means carrying your luggage a fair distance to reach your room destination. 2. There are many stairs up and down the mountain range so I recommend making sure you're in decent shape to be able to accomplish what you set out to enjoy. 3. You need to have decent shoes and be sure footed as you will be trekking along narrow mountain trails with steep drop-offs. Although the above isn't reflective of the Hotel it is something that should be known about the area before heading that way).
Summary: We loved our time in Batad and would return again and stay at Simon's in the future!

Positive: To visit the UNESCO rice terraces this is a fantastic location. You must walk in over a steep road and steep stairs to get there for about 15 minutes. So, do not plan to take your big roller bag! The rooms are basics but clean. The food was good. The manager was excellent and was always willing to help.
Negative: The road and stairs to get there.

Positive: What a great place that is! A premium view, possibly the best in Batad, on the splendid rice terraces. Spacious, clean, tidy, well-kept. Helpful service, everything so well organized, great ambience. The real thing looks even better than in the pics. Couldn't stop prasising it!

Positive: What an amazing place : sitting right at the top of the Batad rice terraces "amphitheatre" - stunning view. Getting here is interesting : our guide only told us as they was parking the minibus, that we now had a 15-20 minute walk down a steep path and steps, so we couldn't take our suitcases. We had to do a hasty bit of repacking! The walk was quite easy and then we arrived at the Guesthouse and saw the view! Well worth the walk! The Guesthouse is basic. We had booked the only room with a private loo and shower. The beds were very comfortable and had just enough bedding to keep us warm (it's quite cool here in early Feb). The furnishings are basic. There is a variable wifi offer (you pay for a set number of hours). The owner's daughter speaks perfect English and is smiley and helpful, working front of house and as bar and food waitress. We had beers at the open air bar, overlooking the stunning view. This is also where we had our dinner: I had a corned-beef pizza; not quite like a western pizza, but very tasty. We then sat around a fire pit with the other tourists drinking the local "gin" and being seranded by our various guides. We did a walk the next day, from the hotel, across the top of the rice terraces, to the Tappiyah waterfall, back through the lower terraces to the Village and then the climb back up to the hotel. A great stay: amazing views, basic, but comfortable accomodation, with friendly, welcoming service.
