Summary: We were not informed in advance that the Pool & the sunbathing area around the pool would be completely closed for the duration of our stay…. If we had been notified in advance we would have cancelled our booking and arranged an alternative hotel with those facilities….. when we brought the issue up with the hotel they just said it’s on our website…. ( I didn’t see this and despite the fact they sent numerous emails in advance offering paid upgrades, requesting advance information etc they never mentioned it….. very poor )

Summary: Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Barcelo. Overall impression was that the hotel is very clean, neat and tidy. Breakfast is amazing with a large variety menu to choose from certainly the highlight of our stay. Roof top bar in my opinion was expensive compared to others we attended, staff a little abrupt, we couldn’t sit where we wanted to as a couple we had to sit a 2 person tables although the one we wanted to sit at stayed empty for the duration of our stay. Location is good if you wish to walk off all those breakfast calories, close to the stunning Arts, Science and Oceanographic buildings. 30 minute walk to the port area of the city and similar distance from the city centre. Not alit of nightlife around the hotel, taxi rank is situated right outside the hotel’s main entrance.

Summary: The room was not exactly clean. It was spacious, but there were stains on the white sheets facing upward on the bed, so we asked them to be changed. There was also a lack of cleanliness in the room and bathroom--I wiped up a dried coffee spill on the desk and the glass walls of the bathroom had what I hope were water splatters running down them. The room itself was spacious and the desk was spacious. The bathroom had no real proper door--there was a sliding door that sectioned off the sleeping room from the front door of the room and bathroom area. They had decided to charge people to be on the rooftop for the fireworks, but hadn't mentioned this beforehand. There was parking under the hotel, but the hotel did not respond to my request before my stay asking where the parking was located. The hotel was "nice" but lacked cleanliness.

Summary: The staff were extremely helpful. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The shower ran hot then cold but that was all that needed attention. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of hot and cold food.
