Positive: The pool was warm and awesome. The kids had fun playing in the yard. The breakfast was awesome with some local products. We had the room right under the roof with our 3 kids. The building with its old furniture was unique and something special to start our vacation.

Negative: It took some time to make contact at arrival to be let in. And the narrow stairs were hard to get up all the way to the top with our luggage.

Summary: Perfect first night of our family vacation.

Positive: When you drive into the property it’s fair to say that you might be a little worried. However, when you step through the door you are met with a warm welcome from the owner and although she couldn’t speak English we had no problem understanding how all the facilities operated. This is not a modern hotel but the opposite. Some people might find it twee, but we found it very comfortable and with a very good breakfast which included home made preserves. We only stayed one night, on our way to Rotterdam, but wouldn’t have minded staying longer.

Negative: The rain fitting on the shower requires attention.

Summary: We enjoyed our nights stay.

Positive: An absolutely lovely place to stay in Verviers. Unusual and full of charm, and very welcoming. The beds are excellent, and the breakfast full of local specialties. The host will make you feel welcome and even the beautiful dog will come for a belly rub. Conveniently located but maybe a bit hard to find the first time - you just need to trust your GPS. Part of the charm is the various stairs so, as other guests have said, this place is probably not for people with reduced mobility. I will definitely stay there next time I’m in Verviers.

Positive: The breakfast was very good and the host very welcoming despite us not speaking any french and she speaking very little English - but it went fine. Everything was clean and tidy. There was quite a lot of outside space that looked nice and had the time and weather allowed we could have enjoyed that.

Negative: The place is quite run down, perhaps some will find it charming. The sink in our room was cracked, the wallpaper was peeling off in many places and the bottom of the shower cubicle had a hole, not leaking water but just a very uneven surface to stand on. The bed sheet was terry cloth and very scratchy and we had a poor nights sleep even though the bed itself was fine - the terry cloth issue is of course not necessarily a problem for others. When we left I couldn’t locate the host so left the key in the door of our room - only to get a rather surprising message from the host later telling us it was the first time in 12 years of B&B she’d experienced guests leaving without saying goodbye - I felt really told off and don’t think we’ll be coming back…

Positive: The house is a beautiful Manor House, lovingly restored by the wonderful Chantel and her lovely husband. Our room was comfortable, the bed super comfy and the bathroom had an amazing shower. Our room also had a lovely balcony where we were able to sit and relax. We opted for a “Suprise” evening meal and oh my, what an amazing suprise it was. We feasted on a delicious 4 course meal, all cooked with such love and attention to detail, it truly was the very best meal we have eaten! Chantel is charming, friendly hostess. Breakfast was also fabulous. Warm boiled eggs, fresh croissants, homemade preserves, fresh orange juice, fresh coffee, cheeses, cold meats , cereals, yoghurts, fruit, etc etc. we will definitely return.

Negative: It was all really good.
