Summary: Mag and Steve were the consummate hosts. The property could not have been nicer, and they could not have thought of more amenities -- including fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. They joined us for breakfast, which included great conversation and, again, home-baked blueberry muffins. Well located. Staying here was a highlight of our month in New Zealand.

Summary: We had a great one night stay at Avarest. We were met warmly by the host and had the entire level to ourselves, they only rent to one group at a time. The rooms were very clean, quiet and comfortable. After hiking Mt. Roberts we were invited for appetizers with the hosts in the evening. The next morning, breakfast was excellent with many choices made to order. We would definitely stay at Avarest again on our next visit.

Summary: Avarest was perfect! Margie and Steve took us in like family, told us where to go in the area, setup dinner reservations and prepared a fantastic happy hour and breakfast spread. The house was very comfortable and the location was great, just a 5 minute walk into town or to the lake. Couldn’t recommend it more! Can’t wait for our next visit!!

Summary: A fabulous B&B! Steve and Margaret are wonderful and helpful hosts and the accommodations are very comfortable and attractive. St. Arnaud is a pretty little lake community. Take some time to take a short walk near the lake. The hotel around the corner has a pleasant restaurant where we had a very good dinner.
