Positive: Well appointed small house in a charming area. The centre of the attractive small town of Mortagne au Perche was a 5 minute walk away but if you sat on the large patio at the rear of the house you would think you were in open countryside. Veronique and her partner Thierry gave us a warm welcome on arrival but did not disturb us during our stay.

Negative: The road into town was quite steep for the first 200m and there are steep staircases in the house. However this all added to the charm.

Positive: The home is on an old street that gives you the feel of actually living there. The family room that looks out on the garden is wonderful and the view from the garden reveals the beautiful countryside of the Perche.

Negative: The reality is that streets were not designed for cars in the olden days. I didn't have any trouble finding a spot but you will be parking on the sidewalk!

Positive: Lovely house and lovely garden. Beautiful views and so easy to walk to the centre and to the market. Everything you need is onsite. Attention to details.

Negative: The stove was a pain, the front door lock was very finicky and it wasn’t easy to open or lock.

Summary: All in all it was ok. Not a fan of staying in someone’s main residence.

Positive: Beautiful house fully equipped. The furniture and decorations are lovely. We enjoyed evenings in the living room, and reading some of the books.

Negative: There is no downside. Our family of 5 was very confortable in the house
